Tony Parker

Denied TABLE

at Memphis Restaurant

5/25/2013 6:11 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0525_Tony-Parker_tmzSan Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker was denied a table at a Memphis restaurant last night -- but the restaurant said it has nothing to do with the fact his team is playing their Grizzlies in the NBA playoffs.

Parker was turned away from the popular Restaurant Iris on Friday night, says the Houston Chronicle, because he did not have a reservation. Parker and the Spurs are in town to play the Griz tonight.

The incident quickly went viral in Memphis, prompting the restaurant to put up a statement on their website, saying in part, "Due to the size of our restaurant, there is currently a two week delay for a weekend reservation ... We would not cancel a reservation that a guest made -- and waited two weeks for -- in order to make room for someone else without a reservation -- celebrity or not."

They did add at the end, "We are proud to be a part of Grizz nation and are excited to cheer on our team tonight."

Seems like Zach Randolph would have gotten a table no problem.

Which is how it should be, just because you're famous shouldn't give you any special privileges. Why should the people who follow the rules suffer

Parker should probably be happy that they just turned him away instead of adding 'special sauce' to his food. What childish people. GO SPURS!!!

Bulls#!t. If Marc Gasol walked in, they'd find a table for him right away..
Every restaurant, especially a hot one, always keeps a table ready for just such an occurrence.

Iris is a very small restaurant. It was not intentional. He just did not get the "star treatment". Do you seat him or upset people waiting for weeks to get in there. It makes Memphis a little different. You have to wait like anyone with a wallet does.

Yeah right. They denied him because he's playing against their hometown team. If one of their star players came they'd have no problem getting a table. They'd tell the average Joe he's going to have to wait until the player was done. Don't kid yourselves people.

I've been watching this story all over twitter, the news and blogs and I must comment.... I have first hand knowledge that Tony Parker was, in fact, NEVER at Restaurant Iris! His assistant called 4 hours before a busy weekend night that hasn't has a table available for weeks. He was never there and "denied service"! They simply stated that their 13 table were in fact booked weeks ago. I've personally been at this restaurant and have seen people no matter of color turned away due to tables being unavailable. I agree with Kelly English and am honestly happy that I will be treated the same as any one when I dine at Restaurant Iris!

Good for the restaurant. Well done. I'm sure the man found food somewhere.
