Paris Jackson

Cops Say She DIDN'T Want to Die

6/6/2013 9:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Cops officially classified the Paris Jackson incident as a "suicide attempt," but they do NOT believe her intent was to kill herself.

Law enforcement sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... based on the information the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. has gathered ... "She wanted attention."  One source involved in the case tells us ... her call to a suicide hotline is compelling evidence "she wanted to be saved."  The source added, "It makes no sense if you really want to die to call a hotline, where the person on the other end will get an ambulance over to your house."

TMZ broke the story ... Paris used a meat cleaver to cut her arm and took a bunch of Motrin, and our sources say as a result they must classify it as a "suicide attempt."  But, as one source put it, "Who takes Motrin to kill themselves?  She called the suicide hotline because she wanted the attention and wanted to make sure EMTs got there in time."

We're also told Paris was conscious when EMTs arrived and did not argue or put up a struggle when she was placed on a stretcher.

One source connected with the case tells us, "She's into the drama."

It's obvious something is wrong with Paris. We're all getting mixed information's from different media and tabloid sources and I believe neither of them knows the actual facts of what's going on... Whatever the case maybe on why she did what she done. I still hope she gets the professional medical attention she so desperately needs.

TMZ you're not the first to report this news about Paris, I saw earlier time different elsewhere and please if you're going to report on this dear child, can you at least get your facts straight and stop speculating claiming an inside source told you this and that. Yesterday it was one thing and today it's another. UGH! It's shameful, the girl is going through enough drama without hearing your lame take on the situation. JMO.

"Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are," a Jackson lawyer says

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Paris Jackson, the 15-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson, was rushed to a hospital after cutting one of her wrists early Wednesday morning, sources close to the Jackson family told CNN.

Paris called a suicide counseling hotline early Wednesday, which lead to a counselor calling 911 to the Jackson home in Calabasas, California, those sources said.

"Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are," attorney Perry Sanders said Wednesday morning. "It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family's privacy."

Other Jackson sources stopped short of calling the incident a suicide attempt, although one suggested it might be "a cry for help" from the teenager.

Paris posted messages to her million-plus Twitter followers late Tuesday evening:

'Paris Jackson's 'cry for help'

"i wonder why tears are salty?"

"yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away

"now it looks as though they're here to stay"

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said its deputies "responded to a medical situation" at an address that matches the Jacksons' Calabasas home at 1:27 a.m. Wednesday. A patient was taken to a hospital, it said.

Paris, along with her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, and her brothers, Prince and Blanket, are suing AEG Live for liability in Michael Jackson's 2009 drug overdose death.

Paris and Prince are listed as witness in the Los Angeles trial and have been expected to testify in the wrongful death trial later this month.

Jackson trial lawyer Kevin Boyle spoke to reporters outside of court Wednesday afternoon, saying Paris can decide if she will testify during their part of the case, but AEG Live has subpoenaed her, calling her a key witness.

"The Jackson family and the Jackson lawyers are putting no pressure on Paris regarding this case at all," Boyle said. "It is AEG who is putting this case at Paris' back door."

Paris and Prince were questioned separately over two days by AEG lawyers just before the trial began in April.

"A grilling of a child regarding the loss of her father is going to create a lot of pressure," Boyle said. "Paris Jackson was asked intimate details about her father and her father's death; it was a very intense situation."

AEG Live lawyer Marvin Putnam denied his team was tough on Paris Jackson in her deposition. "I don't think anybody in the world could call it a grilling."

He declined to say he would not call her as a witness if she does not testify during the Jacksons' case.

"We have to know what they're putting on as a case before we decide what our defense will be," Putnam said. "I have no idea who we're going to call."

Paris made millions cry four years ago when she spoke up at the end of the public memorial service for her father.

"Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine," she said, fighting back tears as relatives consoled her. "And I just want to say that I love him so much," she said as she burst into tears and sought refuge in the embrace of family members.

Paris questioned about dad's death in lawsuit

Paris was recently reunited with her mother, who bowed out of her life when she was an infant. She has been spending time with Debbie Rowe on her horse farm.

Rowe issued a statement through her lawyer Wednesday morning: "We appreciate everyone's thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family's privacy."

Chris

I didn't know the police are now psychologists and phychiatrists as the experts to determine she didn't want to die. I am glad they are able to give us their professional medical diagnosis.

Why is Harvey conflicted about covering Bynes, an adult who may have a mental illness, but is fine with posting that a child who attempts suicide is simply a teen "in to the drama"? Wow, seems very irresponsible and a dangerous message to send to struggling kids. TMZ broke the story.

Not that anyone called TMZ classy but......this story is really in poor taste. I think a lot of people that succeed in suicide have several failed attempts first. Mayne she just wants to have a normal life and not be looked at the way she is. TMZ just made whatever her problems are that much worse by calling her an attentiin whore. Good job, guys.

Somehow someway the Jackson family is going to blame this on Dr Murray and AEG.

She's a messed up kid.

Maybe she is having flashbacks of childhood abuse from MJ. Like Wade Robson! Who knows. But the grandma is going to blame everyone else for this.

I think this was a horrible choice to post this. Obviously anyone can draw that conclusion. This girl clearly spends a great deal of time on the internet. She'll read this and try to prove she was serious. Most people who "attempt" suicide only want attention.

She's a kid. This is one of the most sickening articles I have ever read. Leave this kid alone, blogs like this are the reason celeb kids like this slash themselves.

This story is so offensive. I wouldn't be surprised if they take it down & end up apologizing for it. I'm just speechless, really. Unbelievably irresponsible.

Whom ever wrote this piece should be fired or shot, or both! This poor child has enough problems without some wannabe journalist being an ass. I'm so ashamed to come to this site anymore, its just disgusting. FYI, Motrin overdose can cause liver failure, atrial fibrillation, renal failure, cardiac arrest, tachycardia, and that's just to name a few. And a MEAT CLEAVER is no joke considering she show signs of being a cutter. Have some empathy people.

Paris probably found out her mother took cash from MJ to get pregnant from Arnie Klein, and pass the baby off as MJ's.

Is it any wonder she's suicidal? Poor kid.

If the Jackson family is the problem. She should give back the inheritance and go live with Debbie and her family. Proble(m solved. I'm sure Debbie, the woman who sold her for money, and her family wouldn't have a problem with that and would love to have her and welcome her with open arms. You all need to get a clue.
