Rolling Stone

Boycotting Our Cover is a

Boycot of the Constitution

7/17/2013 11:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0717_rollingstone_bomberBostonians upset by the new Rolling Stone cover -- featuring Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev -- need to grow up and learn from the tragedy that rocked their city ... according to the magazine's editors.

The editors just released a statement, saying their hearts go out to the Boston bombing victims -- but "the cover story we are publishing this week falls within the traditions of journalism and Rolling Stone's longstanding commitment to serious and thoughtful coverage."

The statement continues, "The fact that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is young, and in the same age group as many of our readers, makes it all the more important for us to examine the complexities of this issue and gain a more complete understanding of how a tragedy like this happens."

In other words, we're exercising our 1st Amendment rights to investigate a terrorist -- so, stop burying your heads in the sand, people.

As we reported, CVS and the Boston-based Roche Bros. supermarkets have boycotted the latest issue of the magazine because of its controversial cover ... saying it's disrespectful to the victims.

Rolling Stone has been awful since the days of giving Led Zeppelin ****ty reviews. Their mag has an ok story from time to time, but most of it is and has always been ****.

Write a story about this killer. Don't put him on the cover. Shame on Rolling Stone. I'll never pick one up again

You don't need a photo reminiscent of a glamor shot on the cover to " to examine the complexities of this issue."

This is a total lack of jopurnalistic integrity and simply a ploy by a dying magazine to take advantage of a horrifcic attack on all Americans, and they seek to profit from this act of terrorism. If they had any journalistic integrity which they do not, the could have shown him in handcuffs on his belly when he was captured by the SWAT team, and not glorified him in a picture that looks like a young Bob Dyaln.. This photo selection was deliberate and I for one will be cancelling my subscription and urge evry other subscriber to do the same. This is just stupid and regardless of the tone of the article glorifies his actions. Rolling Stone should be ashamed and owes every American an apology. Hopefully every other store like CVS and Roche Brothers and Tedecshi's will boycott the issue and choose3 also NOT to offer it for sale.

Great. Now the next pathetic moron will be encouraged by the possibility of getting his face on the cover of the Rolling Stone too.
We should NOT publish these bastards faces anywhere. That's just giving them the attention and notoriety they seek. How stupid do you have to be not to realize this?

Hey Stone! You buy the ticket, you take the ride. It too (boycotting buying the rag) is a form of expression. Live with it.

Had the bomber maimed/killed the child or children of a Rolling Stone editor or staff, you wouldn't be seeing this cover as it is....

The problem isn't that they wrote an article about him. It's that they have him on the cover looking like Jim Morrison which just glamourizes what he did. Stupid teenage girls who think he's "so cute" are going to eat this up. It's disgusting.

Rolling Stone pot head music writers talking Politics is like the STARS and ATHLETES thinking we give a Fu.k about what they THINK on a real subject is over reaching their status in our culture

Just like it's RS's right to publish this article, it's everyone else's right not to sell or read it.

F**K Rolling Stone, it's not worthy enough to wrap dead, rotting fish in.

If Rolling Stone was serious let along thoughtful
they would not have a terrorist looking like a pretty
boy on their cover.

Goodbye Rolling Stone I doubt I will miss you.

BB not bb

The problem that I have wit their coverage is that they are saying he was sucked into jihad and it turned him into a killer. I think that is false and they are using that opinion to sell magazines. If they did real investigative journalism, the conclusion would be much different.

They might be trying to use his picture and life before the incident to get readers to relate to him. Then when they call him a jihadi killer, the readers will think they could maybe be that too. That is the subtle brainwashing.

I don't have time for liberal mind games. And they did not take this picture, it was from his family photos on the Net.
