Marc Summers

RIPS Nickelodeon

It's a TRAIN WRECK!!!

Who knew .... Marc Summers (famed host of Nickelodeon's iconic 90s show "Double Dare") now hates the kids network with a fiery passion -- and he vented bitterly on the radio this morning, claiming Nick's nothing but a sad shell of its former self.

We won't give it all away (you have to listen for yourself) but basically ... Marc called in to MAX 98.3 in Tampa Bay this morning, claiming Nickelodeon, once the most successful kids network on cable, is "going in the dumper."

He also called the network execs a bunch of a-holes who have been trying to screw him ever since he left.

Bottom line, Marc's saying what 90s kids have been saying for years ... Nick's Golden Age is long over, and it's never coming back. R.I.P.

We all know it was better in the 90's. Same with Disney. They are both **** channels now. I remember the good content shows and actually **** your pants scary movies. Now is boys and musical crap.

I boycotted nickelodeon hired Jason Biggs to be the voice on tmnt. He's not a good person and I don't want my kids watching a channel who pays that piece of filth

Could not agree with Marc more. Everything he said is completely accurate. Nickelodeon was a very unique channel at the time, as it was about average kids, wearing average clothing, doing average relatable things. Now most all kids shows are geared at achieving fame or popularity. Can't wait to see how this next generation of kids mature when they realize they will never become a rock star like they've been told to think.

No offense Summers but you're about 13 years too late to throw this little bitch fit of yours. We've all known the network was going down in flames once the suits didn't know when to kill Spongebob and The Fairly Gay Parents.

I am Spartacus

He's 100% right. As someone else said, Nickelodeon was about average kids for average kids. Are You Afraid of the Dark (kids sitting around telling ghost stories), Pete & Pete (the life of average brothers), even cartoons like Doug (average new kid in town). Now everything is musical or about achieving fame. Every kid these days have a cell phone/ipad/etc and no attention span. It's about video games, vines, twitter & facebook. Can't go outside and play because everyone is paranoid about their kid getting hurt and why watch kids shows when there's so much sex and reality tv on. Channels that were so great in the 80s & 90s like Nick, MTV, Disney have gone downhill while reality tv crap on E! thrives. I feel sorry for kids these days because they truely don't know what it's like to be a kid. These days they are subjected to grown up material at a very early age.

Finally someone in the industry who is openly honest. The Nickelodeon from the 90s-early 2000s was great but just like Cartoon Network, Dinsey, and Toon Disney it is now dead. It's like 2006 was the last year when good music, cartoons, and popular network shows (breaking bad, game of thrones, and a few other things excluded) premiered and the best of those shows ended by 2009.

At least cartoon network can say they still air most of their early cartoons from the 1960...s-2000s on Boomerang. After the end of the era of "Old" Disney Channel, Dinsey's only saving grace Toon Disney was disbanded in 2009 for Disney XD which sucks. Nicktoons stopped airing classic nick shows like catdog, rocos modern life, and angry beavers, excluding the occasional 90s are nick segments and Invader Zimm (whose final episodes still never aired).
