Paul Walker

How He Ended Up in Death Car

12/1/2013 4:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Paul Walker may not have ever gotten into the car that took him to his death if it hadn't been acting up moments before the crash ... TMZ has learned.

Paul showed up Saturday for a fundraiser at Always Evolving -- Roger Rodas' high end auto shop that specializes in exotic cars. Paul had a stake in the shop.

Sources connected to Roger tell TMZ when Paul arrived ... Roger was watching one of his employees try in vain to back the Carrera GT into the shop, but it kept stalling. Roger decided to take matters into his own hands ... told the worker to get out and took the wheel himself.

As Roger began to back into the garage ... Paul came up and said he hadn't driven in the Porsche yet -- so he jumped in the passenger seat and they took a 20 minute drive.

The fatal accident happened on the way back from that drive -- just 500 yards from the shop.

Paul's best friend from childhood, Nute, grabbed a fire extinguisher and was among the first to arrive on scene. We're told Nute frantically tried to extinguish the flames ... even though it appeared to him both men were already dead.

When the fire dept arrived they tried to pull Nute away, but he was overwrought and punched a firefighter. We're told Sheriff's deputies put Nute -- and several other of Paul and Roger's friends -- in custody, but let them go when they realized the circumstances.

BB not bb

I still don't know. Why was Paul posing with the car then? Where is that in the story? Why would they take the car on a test drive if it wasn't even worked on yet and was stalling out? Did they want to stall out on the road and cause an accident? Since when does a stalling issue cause a high end car to just self implode and incinerate in moments? Why was the back end demolished and the front end left more in tact? Isn't stalling caused from engine trouble, a front end issue?

How did Paul's friend end up punching out a firefighter if he was trying to get Paul out of the car? How did the firefighters not understand what they were trying to do until later? This whole story sounds like a bunch of excuses.

I don't understand people already helping are not allowed to continue to help. It seems all the fire department did was keep watering the wreck until it was ashes. No one was even taken out of the car in time. Wouldn't they have cutters to get the seat belt off and drag out the victims fast? That seemed to be the issue his friends were struggling with when the firemen arrived.

who cares

Ok so what a so called movie star died a nobody who lived the life of fast cars and died in one... People act like as if someone of importance died.... I am glad they are both dead it means they wont be killing anyone while driving recklessly... Who's next... People died in NY today but that doesnt count because they didnt make fictional movies about fast cars? I am glad this happen because no one will finish FF7 and there wont be a FF8.... Hollywood created his death by glamorizing fast cars in movies...

Sad all around for Paul and Roger. I have prayed every night hoping you were not awake during the flames. People, be better friends and siblings.

Enough, Paul Walker. It's sad that the dude died, but do we really need ten million posts?

These 2 weren't mechanics. So why would they take a car out of a shop and drive it before the mechanical problems are fixed. If this happened the way it's reported, the auto shop violated the law, big-time.

Maybe the authorities investigating can obtain surveillance footage from the nearby business complex.

OMG, what BULLS*T.

So a flunky can’t drive a car, and that’s what killed Paul Walker?

Are you people high?

There's a problem here

The "ride" story may or my not be true but the saddest part of the story is about his lifelong friend. I assume that is the friend that was interviewed a number of stories back who was telling his story and was obviously stunned by the events. He said they kept trying to get him out of the car or knock down the flames and then he said he as put in a police cruiser. I can't help but feel bad for what they guy is going through.

Don't ever blame God for what happened to him. It was not God's plans for him to die. Neither was it God's plans for his family to grieve. I sympathize with his family and wish them the strength to cope with this loss.

However, He died for these three reasons:

1. The imperfect state of mankind. His own mistake (In this case driving or being driven a really fast car) Many of us die or get hurt due to our own choices.

2. Time and unforeseen occurrences (Being at the wrong place at the wrong time). And thirdly but not the least,

3. Satan the Devil. He it is who wants to see us grieve and suffer. And until he is destroyed, pain and sorrow such as this will continue in this wicked world.

Take heart John Walker's family. May God console you.

Very sad! Showing off your driving skills should be left on a track! There is a lesson in this. All the street races need to take a close look at this and think before they race. Something good has to come from something so tragic!
