Paul Walker

Family Believes Road Bumps Sealed His Fate

12/11/2013 8:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Paul Walker
died after the speeding Porsche in which he was riding hydroplaned on reflective plastic markers in the street ... at least that's what his family and accident reconstruction experts believe.

Sources close to Paul's family tell TMZ ... the family has been in touch with stunt experts who have gone to the crash site and come back with what they believe is a solid theory -- a speeding car that hits the plastic markers -- called Botts' Dots -- will hydroplane, causing the driver to lose control.

We've learned the experts have told the family ... a car going speeds approaching 90 MPH will lose traction after hitting a series of Botts' Dots.  It's akin to driving on ice -- and  control is further compromised by the fact that the Porsche was outfitted with special racing tires that have very little tread.

And there's this ... Porsche sent out a memo to dealers back in 2004, warning about control problems with the Carrera GT, saying, "This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side.  It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels," adding, "You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.)."

Law enforcement sources say they have not concluded the exact cause of the accident, but it appears they're looking at the Botts' Dots ... as a viable theory for triggering the fatal crash.

Humanity never ceases to amaze...Two men have of natural causes....the other from an accident...I see some awful comments comparing media coverage...There is explicit World News coverage as well as explicit Entertainment coverage - to which TMZ is categorized...That said, for those who "wannabe" a yellow journalist - congratulations!...You have succeeded in not only dehumanizing yourself, showing your true colors and your mind-set, but also managed to disrespect a human being who left a daughter, a wonderful philanthropic organization as well as an acting career and a racing car business...Just because you have not heard of Paul, his, his movies or car business, does not mean he did not exist or does not deserve sympathy and empathy for his young, tragic death...People make choices everyday...sometimes, they are not the best choices...two lives were lost...Paul as the passenger...Your dark, hatred of a man is truly sickening...I presume(?) you were born with a heart and soul...I 'wonder'...what will people say when you die...what will your epitaph read?..."What a shame you sold out... How can a still object kill someone? It's the moving object that initiates the damage.

Doesn't it look like the engine flipped over the top of them, this could have caused the fuel rank rupture and noone would survive being smashed like that. The anatomy of a disaster, another lesson for humanity. Two beautiful lives lost.

Damn...THEY ARE NOT SPEED BUMPS!! The are lane identification markers, to keep your ass in your own lane. Have nothing to do with "speed"....

Apparently the accident was every ones fault but the people who got in a car and drove at high speeds on public streets. It's a miracle no innocent bystanders were killed!!

It was the drivers s*t*u*p*i*d*i*t*y that killed them

Life is a test my father always said. On his death bed he asked me if he was a good father. I said yes of course. He said that he's passed his test. You passed yours Paul. Your devotion to your family and daughter has said it all. You left your mark here and it'll be passed through generations. Have a safe trip Paul and we'll all miss you. Thank you by the way ;)

The speed bumps did their job, they slowed him down.

Rodas had a well-liked movie star in his car and was going twice the speed limit. Brilliant.

No speeding on a public street and not a race track killed him.

Speeding killed him, NOT a speed bump. People need to stop making excuses for bad behavior and bad decisions. What's worse is that they could have killed an innocent bystander should they had collided with another vehicle or pedestrian. I don't feel sorry. He wanted to speed and he pretty much got what he asked for.

It's hilarious the way they demonize the Cerrera GT. Do you think anyone has ever got out of a 600hp+ car and thought "Wow, that was incredibly easy and felt really safe!" No. They haven't. Everyone do a quick google search of Z06 crashes, or Viper crashes. Oh my god! You mean people crash those cars all the time too??? Let me show you my shocked face.....whooaa?

Road bumps?? How's about excessive speed and an incompetent driver.

It doesn't matter how you look at it speed was the reason..Let's face it.. You don't do 90 mph in 45 mph zone. Either way it go's God already had plans for them both..
