Family Believes Road Bumps Sealed His Fate

Paul Walker
died after the speeding Porsche in which he was riding hydroplaned on reflective plastic markers in the street ... at least that's what his family and accident reconstruction experts believe.

Sources close to Paul's family tell TMZ ... the family has been in touch with stunt experts who have gone to the crash site and come back with what they believe is a solid theory -- a speeding car that hits the plastic markers -- called Botts' Dots -- will hydroplane, causing the driver to lose control.

1210_paul_walker_botts_dots_article_main
We've learned the experts have told the family ... a car going speeds approaching 90 MPH will lose traction after hitting a series of Botts' Dots.  It's akin to driving on ice -- and  control is further compromised by the fact that the Porsche was outfitted with special racing tires that have very little tread.

And there's this ... Porsche sent out a memo to dealers back in 2004, warning about control problems with the Carrera GT, saying, "This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side.  It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels," adding, "You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.)."

Law enforcement sources say they have not concluded the exact cause of the accident, but it appears they're looking at the Botts' Dots ... as a viable theory for triggering the fatal crash.

OMG you people are so dense. Yes we know speeding caused the accident...What TMZ is TRYING to say is that had those speed bumps not been there the accident may not have been so bad and the two men might not be gone. People drive fast and hard in those kind of cars all the time. You can't blame them for what others before them have done and after them will do. Just hold their families in your thoughts and show some respect...God!

Selfish family of selfish Paul Walker looking to cash in on his death. Maybe he should have thought of his teenage daughter before playing Mario Andretti on a public street. Let the frivolous lawsuits begin!

Walkers friend and financial adviser that was driving erratic basically murdered walker. Trust me, If the driver lived, the State would file on his asre so fast for murder it wouldn't even be funny. All these years that walker has been driving, I've never heard of him getting speeding ticket or in a wreck. You know TMZ would of been all over that. I can only imagine him telling that dumb ass to slow the hell down before the accident. In a slower motion, It's like letting your friend drive drunk and erratic while you sit in the passenger seat sober and freaking out, hoping ya'll don't kill nobody or yourselves. Been there

Here's a thought; Reckless Driving caused his fate! The family was in touch with STUNT EXPERTS? Sorry, maybe you all need to be in touch with reality and stop putting blame on factors that were heightened with the choices your son made, along with the driver of a car never meant for racing on public roadways. He stars in movies about illegal street racing. How about do something in his honor and reach out to people about the dangers of racing outside the confines of a closed track? The more excuses poured into this young man's death, the more this is excused behavior. GO TO THE TRACK! Take responsibility! Had Paul survived this wreck, I sure as hell don't think he'd be looking to stunt drivers or to the Botts' Dots and start a campaign to make his illegal activites safer. He'd probably apologize and then step up and take responsibility and reach out to the millions of wannabe fast and furious kids out there. The parade of import trashcans that drove around hopping on the accelerator near his crash site was also really classless. That was neither respectful or cool. Take your wet fart makers off our roads.

What a bunch of BS. If two tires are "hydroplaning" He still has a steer, and drive tire on the ground that work. The hydroplaned tires will not fight the working ones.
That the tires are racing is even more ludicrous. Tread is used to channel water away, it wasn't raining, the tires were BETTER for gripping the road.

Road bumps sealed his fate? No,being a dumb a-- and speeding sealed his fate. You only buy a car like that to race it or get more tail.Being both of them were probably getting plenty of the later .Why does it look like the family is trying to come up with an excuse to sue.Its their stupidity and going nearly 3 times the legal speed that did them in.

You only buy a car like that to get more tail or hot rod it and show off.Being both occupants were probably getting plenty of the later .so more that likely they were out for a joy ride.People usually know their friends habits all to well.If the driver was speeding this time its more than likely he did it on a regular basis. Both liked to race so I find it hard to believe walker didn't know of his friends speeding habit.Walker should have never gotten into the car.If the government is so into limiting the amounts of ammo in a clip ,why not the horsepower under the hood.

I have seen articles in which people actually have gone to the extent of blaming the car for being naturally unstable. Bottom line is the driver was speeding on a public road in an unstable car. Blame goes to the passengers. Sad that it happened but people need to learn a lesson form this; http://bit.ly/PaulWalkerRestInPeace

Wow, really, can NONE of you read? It said the bumps sealed his fate, meaning it was the last straw in a chain of events. No where does the article say it was the ONLY contributing factor. A few of you said that speed was never mentioned. Uh, yes, it was. "Paul Walker died after the SPEEDING Porsche in which he was riding hydroplaned on reflective plastic markers in the street".... "a SPEEDING car that hits the plastic markers -- called Botts' Dots -- will hydroplane"... "a car going SPEEDS APPROACHING 90 MPH will lose traction after hitting a series of Botts' Dots". The fact that speed was the main cause is kind of given! But clearly the majority of Americans do not have a good grasp on the English language.

Here go all our tax dollars to settle what I am sure is soon to be an unnecessary law suit filed by the family. Everyone is talking about them like they are saints or something. If the headlined read "Paul Walker and freind kill innocent family while speeding on public street" I think the spin may have been very different.

At 90 if motor blew and locked up drive train then driver braked heavy car would spin back to front hit pole bounce off and slide down street, fire and death comes next.
