Paul Walker

Family Believes Road Bumps Sealed His Fate

12/11/2013 8:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Paul Walker
died after the speeding Porsche in which he was riding hydroplaned on reflective plastic markers in the street ... at least that's what his family and accident reconstruction experts believe.

Sources close to Paul's family tell TMZ ... the family has been in touch with stunt experts who have gone to the crash site and come back with what they believe is a solid theory -- a speeding car that hits the plastic markers -- called Botts' Dots -- will hydroplane, causing the driver to lose control.

We've learned the experts have told the family ... a car going speeds approaching 90 MPH will lose traction after hitting a series of Botts' Dots.  It's akin to driving on ice -- and  control is further compromised by the fact that the Porsche was outfitted with special racing tires that have very little tread.

And there's this ... Porsche sent out a memo to dealers back in 2004, warning about control problems with the Carrera GT, saying, "This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side.  It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels," adding, "You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.)."

Law enforcement sources say they have not concluded the exact cause of the accident, but it appears they're looking at the Botts' Dots ... as a viable theory for triggering the fatal crash.

What caused the accident wasn't "bots dots" it was an idiot approaching 90 on a city street... Sorry they lost their lives, but it was nobody's fault but their own, at least they didn't kill someone else in the process!

All should calm down. The car driver was Roger Rodas. HE drove the car with speed excess. Through his fault the actor of PW was lost. Many of you will forget about this tragedy soon. Only in memory of a family and the daughter of PW will be always.
PW didn't want that it remembered only as actor of The Fast and the Furious. But and it happened. His friends and family have to take care of that to remove the do***entary film about his hobby for sports, the ocean and ROWW. It will be kind memory for his daughter and fans

Paul Walker had a history of reckless behaviors that were selfish and likely could have killed others. In addition to dating teenage girls, the man was an unlicensed driver who got ticketed for texting and driving. Perhaps not a big deal until you consider that he almost died in 2008 because he hit a car because – you guess it, someone was texting and driving.

History of Reckless Driving

July 3, 2008 Walker almost died after smashing into the back of a car on his motor cycle.

On July 29, 2008 ( same month!), Walker was cited for being an unlicensed motorcycle driver, along
with having no proof of insurance. He failed to appear at a court
appearance and ultimately paid a $757.00 fine the next year. (Reported

In separate incidents, Walker was also cited for a failure to stop and texting while driving in 2011. .

Folks, the man was no saint. We should be concerned about how he dated these teenage girls and how he had zero respect for the lives of others when driving.

Pretty sure it had to do with a tree and 600+ HP car drive by a race car driver on city streets with a hotdog in the passenger seat. What next? They swirved for a ****roach!

Thank you Road Bumps for removing these 2 reckless wannabe race drivers from the streets.

America is a safer place now, because of these road bumps.

"control is further compromised by the fact that the Porsche was outfitted with special racing tires that have very little tread."

That is absurd. Unless it was raining or snowing, R compound tires would have more traction on a paved surface, period. The rubber is stickier and there is more surface area in contact with the road.

Driving a vehicle that was hard to control, made of carbon fiber, and had a fuel tank behind the passenger compartment were all contributing factors. Speed limit was only 45 and the sign post was not required to break away easily because of the lower speeds of the road.

He died because Rodas thought he was the Hispanic version of Michael Schumacher.

they are trying to blame the car, the road, the bumps in the road........ what about the fact that they were going 90 mph on a public sorry that they died, and feel great empathy for the families, but the driver was clearly careless..... a car does not hit a pole, two trees and a speed limit sign and demolish into pieces and explode into flames at 35 mph

what they are saying is pretty much in the same line of what I was thinking happened. The car they were driving it's pretty much a race car low to the ground racing tires etc. that is built for a smooth pavement race track not a street with pot holes or dips in the road. Hitting a dip or something else at the speed could definitely make you lose it. Saying that I am also going to say all you people that are saying them driving fast and be stupid are a bunch of hypocrites. We as human beings do stupid things sometimes and I'm sure most of you saying this stuff have driven drunk on more than one occasion so what is the difference is that you didn't get caught or that you didn't get in a wreck? Well maybe next time huh? Point is it doesn't really matter at this point does it. These guys are gone and they are going to be missed
