Family Believes Road Bumps Sealed His Fate

Paul Walker
died after the speeding Porsche in which he was riding hydroplaned on reflective plastic markers in the street ... at least that's what his family and accident reconstruction experts believe.

Sources close to Paul's family tell TMZ ... the family has been in touch with stunt experts who have gone to the crash site and come back with what they believe is a solid theory -- a speeding car that hits the plastic markers -- called Botts' Dots -- will hydroplane, causing the driver to lose control.

We've learned the experts have told the family ... a car going speeds approaching 90 MPH will lose traction after hitting a series of Botts' Dots.  It's akin to driving on ice -- and  control is further compromised by the fact that the Porsche was outfitted with special racing tires that have very little tread.

And there's this ... Porsche sent out a memo to dealers back in 2004, warning about control problems with the Carrera GT, saying, "This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side.  It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels," adding, "You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.)."

Law enforcement sources say they have not concluded the exact cause of the accident, but it appears they're looking at the Botts' Dots ... as a viable theory for triggering the fatal crash.

What sealed his fate was speeding on a public street...period.

It's not the 'Bott's Dott's" fault that the car was speeding . I was a fan of the guy and I'm really sad he died, but at least they didn't kill any innocent passers' by, while apparently driving irresponsibly in a car that probably shouldn't be driven on public roads.

Someone could flung a cigaret butt at them and the driver overreacted. That car was a death trap.

Road bumps. Sure. Still denying he was speeding? Get a life!

Had to chime in on this. If you are a car fanatic like me, then you know who the "Stig" (professional track driver) is. On Top Gear, the Stig drove this car and spun it out FOUR times in a row coming out of a turn on the track. To say the least, this car should not be street legal. The driver (Rodas) took it beyond his capability on a non-track (maybe the bott's dots made it spin out, we'll never know) and now two people are gone. It's a terrible tragedy and a reminder that fast driving should only be done on the track.

Like many, I've been reading less and less of TMZ because their "reports" are less and less relevant, and most not interesting (think sports starts abuse cases - three's a new one every day). Well HERE we have it: some no-name actor called "Paul Walker" (and yes, I know TMZ have been publishing new "stories" about him every hour on the hour for the few people who know or care who the hell he was .... where Nelson Mandela's death got all of two cursory obligatory mentions, and even those only with a revenue-gathering angle for TMZ pre-arranged) ....TMZ has HAD to stake its colours to it mast: and they've shown clearly that they are banking on fly-by-night stars (who IS Paul Walker - some one-off or two-off movie nothing - he's hardly a household name, I can't find anyone whose ever HEARD of him, let alone who mourns his passing! Is it kids? Was he a video voice they liked? A recent movie franchise? Whoever the hell he ever was, it was NOT a notable or talented actor - THEY are well known and celebrated IN LIFE. That THIS GUY who almost no-one know or care about - is given about 30 stories on TMZ - and Nelson Mandela is given a total of 2 -THAT says everything you'll ever need to know about TMZ, TMZ's precarious finances, TMZ's complete abrogation of societal norms and expectations.

Road bumps didn't seal Paul Walker's fate .... going twice the speed limit did.

Why is it nobody at TMZ will address the SPEED in this crash? I have NEVER seen anything like this. It must be anyone else's fault but Roger Roda's. This borderlines on the absurd at this point. Good job TMZ! Spin it backward and flush the 100 MPH factor. What BS!

It says "sealed" his fate....otherwise saying it was the "final straw" . Obviously the speed was a factor. I think everyone knows that. The reporters are trying to be respectful, since he was NOT driving. Some people....sheesh.

Max: You killed him?
Vincent: No, I shot him. Bullets and the fall killed him.

The evil road killed that dumb douche Walker, but he was an handsome angel with a heart of gold who deserved to live forever and who's now in heaven with Nelson Mandela & Mother Teresa and Jesus, of course.

Well since by definition hydroplaning requires water, no the car most certainly did not hydroplane.

And sorry but 'stunt experts' are not 'accident reconstruction experts'. I will agree that SOME stunt experts have more knowledge than the average person aboutcar dynamics and road conditions, but accident reconstruction goes way beyond what a typical stunt expert knows.

Can we move on people? Walker (I had to Google to find out who he was) died last month and one can mourn every hour or write about him every minute of the day, but it won't bring him back.
His friend Rodas created and owned a racing shop and loved racing. Fine, but didn't he know about the disadvantages of a Porsche Carrera GT? Or did he think himself to be good enough to drive such car?
That day, that time when they died there were a lot more fathers all over this world who died and left a family behind.
Therefore, cremate Walker and Rodas or put them in the ground and move on. Earth, time and the lives of their families didn't stop when they died.
