REO SpeedWagon

We Were Moved by 'Blackfish'

We're Quitting SeaWorld Gig Too

12/13/2013 3:45 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

REO Speedwagon is taking a stand against SeaWorld's alleged abuse of its Orcas -- TMZ has learned the band just pulled out of an upcoming concert there ... following in the footsteps of several other high profile acts.

Sources close to REO Speedwagon tell us their cancellation is directly related to the documentary "Blackfish" ... which exposed alleged killer whale abuse at the aquatic amusement park.

The concert is supposed to go down in February at the Orlando, FL park -- but Cheap Trick, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Barenaked Ladies, and Heart had already backed out.

SeaWorld says it expects "other artists will be targeted" by the campaign to organize a protest. They added they're going to book other bands to fill the open slots.

SeaWorld could invite the Kanye & Kardashian Sisters, have them wear their Sears Hooker/Stripper clothing line (that makes them look like whales) and they can be the feature whale attraction while Kayne entertains all the ghetto dwellers attracted to Kayne & The Kardashian Klan....IT'S A WIN WIN SITUATION.

The Kardashian Sister can be SeaWorld's REPLACEMENT WHALES; throw them in the pools, poke them with electric prods, and watch them FLIP-FLOP all over the place; these girls are use to being abuse...nothing new to them.

Glad to see these artists putting compassion before $$$. It's long overdue. Confining wild animals in small spaces is inhumane in itself.

You guys are true class act! You made the right decision. Now we just have to work on stopping The Cove!

I'm ready to get myself a SeaWorld season pass. All of these bands are such hypocrites and are giving into the pressure from a vocal minority.

Did they stop eating meat after watching videos from a meat processing plant?

Did they stop watching Mel Gibson or Alec Baldwin movies when they starting making racial or homophobic comments?

This is ridiculous. I don't go to Sea World for the concerts anyway. No big loss.

Sea World should just stop the concerts until the whole thing blows over and the activists find a new target. I had a Platinum pass and never went to any of the concerts.

There are humans dying of exposure due to the frigid temps. Now that is something that needs our attention.

Good for them that they didn't feel right about it. They just couldn't fight that feeling anymore.

It's sad the celebs are jumping on the bandwagon, or should I say speedwagon, only after some movie showed the evil side of this business. How can anyone not see how horrible the lives of these wild animals are in a 20 ft plexiglass tank? Do it because it's the right thing to do, not the latest PC trend.

You mean I can't rock out to a bunch of bands that haven't been relevant in 40 years? No offense Bareneaked Ladies, only 20 years for you.

It's a shame that many of you morons had to see Blackfish to make you realize something that is common sense. Animals should not be in cages. All Zoos need to close and return animals to their nature surrounding. This is a form of slavery again, by the white and jew machine.

How did they think you get a "KILLER WHALE" to obey you. It's not by asking it politely. I've always hated all those amusement parks/circus that have these seemingly obedient wild animals. So sad for the poor creatures cause you know they've definitely suffered.
