Jahvid Best

NFL Should've BANNED Me From Draft

Over Concussion History

1/29/2014 3:42 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF
Exclusive Details

0129-jahvid-andre-best-gettyEx-Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best says the NFL should NEVER have allowed him to enter the 2010 Draft ... because he had a well-documented history of concussions in college that made it UNSAFE for him to compete as a pro.

Best -- who was forced to end his NFL career in 2012 after suffering multiple concussions -- is suing the league ... and in the docs, he says the NFL should have saved him from himself.

In the docs, Best points out that during his college career at UC Berkeley ... he suffered at least 2 concussions, one of which made national news.

In fact, Best says the famous hit he took against Oregon State in 2009 became a viral video sensation because the play was so ferocious, many people thought he was killed on impact.

Best went on to declare for the NFL Draft and was cleared by the league. He was selected by the Lions in the 1st Round ... and during his brief pro career, suffered at least 2 more concussions that eventually ended his career in 2013.

In his lawsuit, Best pins the blame for his compromised health on the league ... saying, "The [NFL] allowed Best to be drafted and play despite his history of brain injury.”

Best says because of the NFL's actions ... he suffered "permanent and severe injuries to his brain."

He's suing the NFL and others for unspecified damages -- but it's clear he wants a fortune.

Seriously? Yeah let's blame the league because we all know that it's someone else's job to watch our health for us. Shouldn't HE have told the draft board that he was not pro material?

He had no problem in 2010,2011, and 2012 (until injury) he's probably only suing because he used up all of his money. Jon Kitna to be a back up QB to Kyle Orton was paid 50K for that game even as a back up you get at least 500K so for 3 years he had to get over 1.5 million in his bank. He should've invested.

Screw you, brah, if you didn't want to play, you shouldn't have declared for the draft. You are gold-digging s***.

If he's going to declare himself for the draft knowing that he had two collegiate concussions then he has to take responsibility for his actions. After the first concussion in the NFL he should have quit. I'm sure that if he weren't allowed to be eligible for the draft that he would have sued them for that.

I bet he wasn't crying about the league protecting him from himself when he went to the bank to cash his nfl checks. Always after the fact when his career is over, that's why you go to collage for academics, something to fall back on. You live by the money you die by the money
