Tyler Perry is blaming bad lighting for a disastrous fire at his massive studio complex in Atlanta ... and now he wants the producers of a sitcom to foot the bill.
Perry filed a lawsuit -- obtained by TMZ -- claiming the blaze broke out in May 2012 during production of "For Better or Worse" ... because a white hot light was placed too close to a facade on the set.
Perry -- who obviously knows his way around a studio -- is suing the show's producers for negligence ... saying they should have had better lighting guys.
He's demanding $1.8 mil to cover the total damage to the studio.
Worth noting ... since the fire broke out Perry has directed and written 54 episodes of the show ... for better or worse.
