'The Purge: Anarchy' Actor

I Got Robbed

They Never Said I'd Be on Billboards

7/20/2014 12:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0719-Purge-Face-Paint-SUB-03"The Purge: Anarchy" actor featured on billboards across the country says producers hoodwinked him ... because no one said he'd be the face of their ad campaign -- and now he wants to be paid.

Emmanuel Howell says he worked 5 days on the shoot as an extra and made less than a grand.  He expected to only be in the background of shots ... but months later, he started seeing his mug pop up on billboards.

Howell tells us he reached out to production asking for more dough -- but they said to kick rocks ... because he should be happy for the honor. Instead, they offered him free digital movie posters.

Howell says he contacted multiple lawyers because it felt like a slap in the face ... but so far, they've all said he doesn't have a case.

The billboard star explained his entire situation to our photog ... and you can't help but feel bad.

Welcome to Hollywood!

I'm sure he signed a contract. So they own that image of him. He needs to look on the bright side, it is giving him a lot of exposure. Although, a lawsuit against your former employers will give you exposure you don't want, if you like working anyway.

He should be honored. He was background and now he is on the poster. Whine, Whine, Whine...

He definitely signed a release. And that release probably stipulated very clearly that his image could be used for promotional purposes.

Tough crap. He's a nobody who should be glad he's getting publicity. He got paid, was happy with it, and now is just being greedy.

Read the fine print of your contract!

it does sound bad..though isn't a free market economy all about trying to get away with as much as you can? but then...isn't the screen actors guild/union supposed to have a lot of rules about using their members to avoid situations like this? unfortunately the article says that lawyers don't think he has a case, so i guess the producers' lawyers must have been pretty good with the paper work...alas..

Surely he signed an all image release. for one, so no case bonehead.

Instead of happily turning this fortunate exposure into a positive and capitalizing on it....
he's giving headaches and acting diva, biting the very hands that 'could' feed him in the future.
They're gonna remember you for all the 'Wrong Reasons' now.

Miscalculated Dumb move fool.

I'm sure he was shocked when he saw himself on the poster but he should have known something was up when he had to do a photo shoot by himself. How many extras get that kind of treatment? He signed the contract so it is what it is.
