One thing's for sure, Lindsay Lohan looks way better in a cream colored coat and bell-bottomed black slacks, than jailhouse orange ... which she keeps narrowly dodging.

Lohan was walking around London ... where she's been flying under the radar since an L.A. judge ordered her to perform 125 additional hours of community service.

This is the best we've seen her look in a while -- however, time spent putting together one's outfit and applying one's makeup ... does NOT count as community service.

It's unclear if LiLo's aware of that.
