San Diego Prosecutor Found Dead Inside Federal Building ... After Being Reported Missing
A federal prosecutor in California was found dead inside an office this week -- and police are now investigating.
The San Diego PD tells TMZ ... Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Haden's body was discovered Wednesday inside an office at a federal building in San Diego, which is home to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California.
Cops say officers received a report of a man who possibly disappeared Wednesday evening, and then they responded to the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building, where they found Haden's body.
Police said they do not suspect foul play ... but the medical examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
The Los Angeles Times said Haden had been working as a federal prosecutor for the Southern District of California since 2010.
During his tenure, he was twice tapped to be acting U.S. Attorney as leadership roles were changing in 2023 and 2025. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who completed two deployments overseas, and he graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in political science.
Adam Gordon, the current U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California, issued a statement about Haden's death, saying ... "This is one of the darkest days in our office's history, but there was nothing dark about Andrew Haden's life."
Gordon remembered Haden as "a beacon of light -- full of laughter, friendship, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to serving our community."
Haden served as chief of two departments ... the Violent Crimes & Human Trafficking Section and the Criminal Division.
He was 48.
