Borat Lawsuit -- High Five!!!

How's this for the beginning of a lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court? -- "Sacha Baron Cohen is a prankster."Click to view documents

Two anonymous plaintiffs are suing 20th Century Fox and One America Productions, claiming members of their college fraternity were interviewed to become part of the smash "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" film.

The plaintiffs -- listed as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 -- were allegedly assured the film would not be shown in the U.S. and their identities would not be revealed.

They were both selected to appear in the movie and, according to the suit, taken "to a drinking establishment 'to loosen up' and provided alcoholic beverages." They claim they signed the movie releases after "heavy drinking."

The suit claims both men were then taken to a motor home where they were filmed, all the while "encouraged to continue drinking."

The movie features a scene in a motor home where Cohen gets drunk with three frat boys who go on a racist rant about how they wished they had slaves and how minorities in the United States "have all the power."

According to the lawsuit, the frat boys only received $200 for the controversial appearance.

The plaintiffs claim they suffered "humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community..." because the movie was indeed released in the U.S.

The suit asks for unspecified damages.

Calls to 20th Century Fox were not immediately returned.

92. No matter what you say, while that scene was pretty funny, these guys were just a bunch of biggots. I'm not against frats, although never actually being in one, I managed to succeed. The issue is, these guys are racists, knew they were drunk when they signed the papers, and their true beings were let out. If we went to a bar and got hammered and drove home, we couldn't sue the bar for our DUI could we? Probably not, unless it was a sleazy decision. Legally, these guys probably have a leg to stand on but that doesn't take away from the fact that they're a bunch of a**holes that deserved what happened to them.

93. James Taylor: "Considering the poor grammar and spelling, I doubt that many of the posters here ever attended college. " Hey, smarty pants? Hearsay is one word. Pot meet kettle.

94. I have mixed feelings about this ...
I think it is callous (although hilarious in retrospect) of Mr. Cohen to take advantage of people's trust.

However, how you act in front of a camera during an interview is your own choice. The two plaintiff's are mainly filing suit after the fact that this movie has become a success. Their complaints stem from what they would insinuate as being shown in a false light, being misrepresented. Being a drunken a**hole in front of a camera is what it is. They are adults and made their own decisions.

Interesting enough, after reading through the law suit, one of their arguments was that the "plaintiff's" thought their clip was only being shown in Europe. Does that give them even more license to act a fool in front of a camera? And do you really think that these "plaintiff's" would really be suing if they thought they looked execptionally cool in the movie?

This will definitely be an interesting case.

95. Look at the movies "Girls/Guys gone Wild" Those movies have been getting away with having drunk young people signing releases and exposing their bods...

Nobody made those guys say racist things... I'm just waiting for the rodeo bigot to sue, considering he wasn't drunk at all

97. First off no one was holding a gun to the underage guy's head obviously he wanted to drink if he cared that he was underage then why didnt he just say no I am sure they would have understood....an second even if they were told that the movie was going to be released in Europe only havent they heard of the internet. That sh*t would have been posted up so quickly espicially if people found out that it involved an american school. And third if these guys want to make a point then why are they suing under the names Jon Doe 1 and 2 use your real names! Sh*t get some balls and just suck up the fact that you put yourselves out there like that its your fault and no one elses. Back in the day everyone got a laugh out of SMILE YOUR ON CANDID CAMERA....how is what they did any different then this they exploited people just as bad but its ok when a fat funny man hosts not when someone goes into disguise like Sacha did he is a great comedian that is only now getting the credit he deserves! LONG LIVE BORAT!!!

98. This is just another way that people who know nothing about frats (except what the learn in their drum circles or while they are busy not showering or shaving their armpits) can jump on college bound white middle class males who are out to destroy the world, oooohh Im coming to get you. For those who think a frat is paying for friends please dont get mad b/c your not ever invited to a party at a house, its so people who have similar interest can live together and pool their means to throw kick ass parties. And I thought the motivation of every male 18-24 in college was to get laid by a coed? When did that become a crime? And dont act like every guy outside of a frat in college is above trying to f&$@ a drunk freshman at a party, or that date rape drugs are exclusively used in frats. To quote my boy Cartman: “I hate goddamed HIPPIES!!!”

99. If you see the movie it will resolve any doubts you may have about these frat boys getting taken advantage of. Number one they we not that drunk. Number two, they knew they were being films and still said the things they did.

An before anyone comment about drunk rants. Let me say I work hard during the week so sometimes I get sh*t faced on weekend. I have been stagering drunk, I've passed out cold, but I have never ever made derogatory remarks against women, other races, or cops. Because deep down inside, I don%u2019t feel that way. You can't make someone say something they do not believe even when drunk off your ass. Unless you hold a gun to their heads.

Losers frat boys want $$$.

100. These guys probably say the same things every Thursday night at the local dive to throngs of their obliterated "brothers". They're just mad cause now everyone else sees them for the ignorant drunken fools they are. They should shut the f*** up and go back to tea bagging and drawing on whatever one of their moron friends that passes out next.

101. Hey, fag, you were quite quick to have some cheese stuck in your dick and have it eaten out in front of your fag brothers. Was that in the contract?

102. frat guys are not all bad but these guys made the statements, borat(cohen) didn't give them a script. they made themselves look bad. they opted to be in the movie and to those of you sick of ambush humor, get over yourself. innocent people who wish we had slaves and demean women and spread hate deserve to be made fun of just like the rest of us!

103. I have been harassed by different men in different Frats.

There are a few nice guys in Frats but the most I have encountered have been loud obnoxious a**holes. I have had 2 different girls been sexually abused by Frats boys so you will excuse my distain for the entire organization

I hope they get nothing other than their asses handed to them by a Judge

104. You guys defending frats are really self righteous douches along with the others.
It certainly does take one to know one, and I know there IS indeed something to the stereotyoe.
Im not calling every frat boy an a**hole-There are some nice catches.

During my undergrad, there were a series of arrests in the Frat houses for Rohypnol distribution not to mention date raping freshman at Parties.

Also my boyfriend, who lived in a Frat house at Northeastern University mentioned the amount of homosexual initiation hazing. Luckily, he was only housing there temporarily, he didnt live there, but witnessed what went on.

There is definitely something not right with MANY Fratboy attitudes

105. Can you imagine what these boys are hearing from their friends and family after the movie was released? No wonder they're back tracking big time. Must suck to be them right now. The lawsuit is bogus, hopefully the judge or the lawyers will throw it out.
