Builder to Keyshawn -- Gimme the Damn Money

8/23/2009 9:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Retired NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson has caught passes for the Jets, Buccaneers, Cowboys and Panthers ... but now he's been accused of dropping the ball on more than $1 million in payments to a construction company that worked on his house.

Gordon S. Gibson, Inc. has just filed a lien on Keyshawn's Calabasas, CA home, claiming the ESPN broadcaster owes them $1,115,500 for "supervision and construction of the Johnson residence."

According to the docs, Johnson's tab is getting bigger by the minute -- gaining 10% annual interest since January 14.

FYI -- In 2000, Keyshawn signed a $56 million contract with the Bucs.

Actually he was a good player on the BUCS. (there's no K y'all)

He was also a grade A turdburgler.

We called him 'MeShawn' because everything with him is all about ME ME ME ME ME.

He should pay his bills like everybody else does.
Either way, he's still a poop-noodle.

This truly is surprising, to say the least. Keyshawn owns a restaurant in the LA area called Reign, in addition to the numerous franchises he owned in Dallas while with the Cowboys. He is not hurting for money.

He was a very good receiver, mainly for the Jets. He and Wayne Chrebet were one of the best receiving tandems in the NFL. However, he just couldn't keep his mouth shut and like Hotdog said, was always about me, me, me.

He couldn't have been greater, in the same breadth as T.O. or Randy Moss, but just never had the right QB.

Hope that contractor gets his fair share. That's a lot of $$$$$$$ to stiff someone on.

I do not believe this, he has an interior designer business. Sometime contractors get real greedy and dirty.

Just because you have a $56 Million dollar contract does not mean you can afford to pay the plummer to unstop your toilet.

I am a licensed contractor myself, and I can tell you that all general contractors are crooks. There's more to this than meets the eye, I assure you. By the way, a mechanics lien is nothing, so don't let that alarm you.

Anyone have photos of the house? Is it true he has some sort of interior design business?

First of all a foreclosure comes from a bank and a mechanics lien comes from the contractor, so therefore the house is not being foreclosed on. For you stupid folks whom have never built a house, contractors have to protect their money incase something happens to Mr. Johnson. Why is it that whenever our black celebrities are in the news we take it and run with it? We're giving all these websites everything they want by sitting around commenting on it. Be smart and do your own research, has Mr. Johnson said anything to defend himself? Probably not because he's sitting back laughing getting ready for some monday night football!

Keyshawn is on ESPN AND has a show on A&E "Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design". The contractor might be just looking for some publicity. Look he got his name on TMZ! Who knows if the contractor really deserves the money or not!
