Swastika Guy to Taylor: I'm Sorry!

10/29/2009 4:27 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Taylor & AJThe guy at the core of the Taylor Swift swastika scandal claims it's possible the singer did not see the Nazi symbol on his chest when he pulled her in for a photo the other night.

The shirt-bearer, AJ English, tells TMZ he didn't know Taylor before Katy Perry's party last weekend -- and he's sorry for dragging her into the chaos.

As for why he had a swastika on his shirt in the first place -- English says it started out as an "X" but was "perverted" as the night went on, adding he's "not a racist" and doesn't support the Nazi agenda.

You're really digging to try and tag her with something like this. She didn't paint the swastika; she wasn't wearing it - some dude who wanted a picture with her did. Don't try and take the heat off K9 West. He is still a dog. She is still a doll.

The swastika (from Sanskrit svástika) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) form or its mirrored left-facing (卍) form. Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period and was first found in the Indus Valley Civilization of the Indian Subcontinent. It occurs today in the modern day culture of India, sometimes as a geometrical motif and sometimes as a religious symbol; it remains widely used in Eastern and Dharmic religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Despite this usage, the symbol has become stigmatized and to some extent taboo in the Western world because of its iconic usage by Nazi Germany, and it has notably been outlawed in Germany if used as a symbol of Nazism (usage of the sign by religious groups is tolerated). Many modern political extremists and neo-nazi groups such as Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging , the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and Russian National Unity use stylised swastikas or similar symbols.

I am not saying it is alright to do what she did. Is it possible some people do not know what they do. Maybe people can have a different view on the same thing. This object was used before nazis, and was seen as a positive symbol. She is dumb though. this is from wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika also remember from high school

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used for over 3,000 years. (That even predates the ancient Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE.

During the following thousand years, the image of the swastika was used by many cultures around the world, including in China, Japan, India, and southern Europe. You are ignorant hate mongers yourselves!

Dear TMZ,

Grow up! It's quite clear that Taylor Swift was merely posing for a picture and NOT embracing someone because he had a swastika on his shirt. You state she was dancing with him...lame; clearly, he was dancing BEHIND her. Though, I will continue to watch your show for the sheer enjoyment, I really think that this situation is being blown out of proportion and if you ask me, it is very high school.

Okay so first of all, the swastika was used for thousands of years in eastern religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism as a symbol for things such as the sun and eternity. It is only very recently that this symbol has gained a negative stigma in western culture as a nazi symbol, which is the swastika with a white circle around it and a red background. Therefore it is extremely presumptious to assume that this was an anti semitic jesture and even more close-minded to associate this incident with Taylor Swift being anti semitic in any way.
