Courtney Love - 'Domestic Violence' Mentioned

12/23/2009 2:41 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

New allegations in the Courtney Love/Frances Bean case -- lawyers have asked to seal documents relating "to a minor and allegations of domestic violence."

Courtney Love: Click to launch

TMZ has obtained documents filed by lawyers for the guardianship that was established on Frances Bean Cobain's behalf. As we first reported, a judge stripped Love of legal control over her daughter on December 11.

Now we have new docs filed by the guardianship asking to seal all court documents that relate "to a minor and allegations of domestic violence." The papers do not get specific, but they do refer to sealing Frances Bean's medical records. The docs also say, "In this proceeding, every document reveals details of Frances's (sic) relationship with her mother."

As we already reported the judge issued a temporary restraining order, prohibiting Love from having contact with her daughter. According to the new docs, the TRO "...restrains Courtney Love Cobain, from certain behavior and from coming within a certain distance of Frances and her guardians."

It's supposed to be spelled F-r-a-n-c-e-s-'. F-r-a-n-c-e-s-'-s is incorrect because Frances ends in an s and when a word ends in S you add only an apostrophe at the end and you do not add an s. So looks like most of yall clowns is illiterate.

Courtney is known to spend alot of time on the internet responding to stories like this. So how did it feel to kill your husband and father of your child then spend all their money on coke ?

First of all, it happens. Women do abuse. I spent years working at a child abuse shelter, and saw more than I can describe to you here. It was too much.
Second, false accusations occur all the time. Anytime family battles involve money, it gets worse. Add celebrity and it gets too difficult for the professional to discern.
I've seen too much to know what to tell you. It happens.

wow... I can't believe there are so many people on here defending Courtney's parenting. That is truly disturbing. I don't think she killed Kurt Cobain... but the woman quite obviously has some serious issues. I don't care if you believe that Frances is pregnant (I doubt it though), there is NEVER any excuse for a parent to hit their child. Especially someone who is such a train wreck. IF Frances was pregnant, Courtney should be a hell of lot more understanding. Its not exactly like she's been a great role model for the girl. Spend most of you adult life abusing drugs, in and out of rehab and jail, and screwing any male within reach and one should expect your kid to be a little effed up. She should have lost custody of Frances a LONG time ago.

I know TMZ has the worst-ever copy editors on the planet, but come on. You actually have "Frances's (sic)" in the article, as though the apostrophe s is wrong. I mean it's one thing to be incompetent in editing your own copy but then to incorrectly "correct" what isn't wrong in someone else's writing? Damn, people.

TMZ is right. There should only be an apostrophe at the end of Frances, not an extra s. The correct possessive form is Frances' because the name ends with an s. If it didn't, then, go ahead and add the 's. The 'sic' is needed because Frances's is incorrect and TMZ doesn't want to look like they made the error.

@ tanner, in order for your sarcasm to work, you must be slightly intelligent.

The possessive form of "Frances" is "Frances's." The use of "sic" was unnecessary and plain rude. Before you mock someone else's grammar, check your own.

The correct form is Frances' because it ends in s. If the name was shortened to Frannie, it would've been correct, but Frances should be "Frances'" not "Frances's". Now please, do not make the same mistake again. Thank you very much!

"Writers" at TMZ: Please go to your nearest bookstore and buy a copy of Elements of Style, The Bedford Handbook for Writers, something... hire copy editors, anything. I just cannot take it anymore. From using "pled" as an actual word to adding (sic) to the above quote where there is no error. An apostrophe plus s is added to singular nouns that end in s, as in Frances's. Geez, isn't Harvey Levin a lawyer? I would think you would at least catch the pled error...

The person that wrote this article was presumptuous enough to use "(sic)" but not learned enough to recognize that the possessive form of "Frances" is "Frances's." Perhaps the site should get a real editor.

Considering the below....we don't need more of these.
