'Biggest Loser' Star - Big Fat Liar ... Allegedly

Based on the weight of the evidence "The Biggest Loser" star Jillian Michaels is pulling a dietary fast one on the American public for profit ... according to a new class action lawsuit.

Jillian Michaels

According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Calorie Control dietary supplement is "worthless."

The lawyer who filed the suit, Melissa Harnett, tells TMZ, "Telling people you take two magic pills and then eat chocolate cake all day is a deception."

The suit alleges, "Sadly, Michaels has decided to exploit her fame and goodwill by collaborating with Thin Care and Basic Research to promote a weight loss supplement that purportedly will cause weight loss by itself, without any additional effort on the part of the consumer."

The suit asks for an injunction prohibiting the sale of the product, plus damages.

UPDATE
: Jillian has released the following statement:

"Unfortunately, anyone can file a lawsuit in California. All it takes is a $355 filing fee. That research was reviewed by some of the leading weight-loss experts in the world before Jillian would put her name on the product.

The lawsuit will be handled in the courts like all other lawsuits, and we are confident we will prevail."

It says right on the box that the supplement works WITH diet and exercise. She spells it right out on the packaging that it is just a supplement, not a magic pill.

Another cheap attempt to rip off a celeb and someone successful.

Melissa Hartnett, whoever she is, should hang her head in shame.

Anyone stupid enough to eat chocolate cake all day, thinking it's a weight loss manuever, deserves to get fat.

Like this is news? All dietary supplements are worthless. I have not been sick in 30 years because I eat real food, healthy food. That's where your true dietary benefits come from.

Dear Fat People,

Why are there no fat people in Ethiopia?

Take the pie out of your mouth and go for a jog, Tubby.

Honestly, this class-action lawsuit is like a legion of stupid people admitting in a court of law that they are not only stupid, but they are also greedy.

Most weight loss supplements contain high levels of caffeine which can initially promote minor weight loss due to an increase in energy. However, the pros are greater than the cons. Caffeine causes adrenal stress. Adrenal stress causes overproduction of cortisol, which causes the body to hold onto fat stores. Plus, if a person has hypertension or a heart condition, these supplements can actually pose a real danger to a person's health.
Taking a balanced whole vitamin supplement plus extra B vitamins if in a high stress lifestyle and EFA's for mood is enough for most people. There are other supplements which are safe and can be helpful for specific health conditions.
Actually, this news re: Ms. Michaels doesn't much surprise me. She doesn't seem like she actually likes people very much. I feel that her attitude towards the people she's supposed to be helping tends to be disdainful. She comes off like a drill sergeant.

I wish people would stop buying these stupid weight loss programs. If we stop buying them, people will stop making them. Basic supply and demand. So yes, I agree with another poster, if you think eating chocolate cake,... ANY kind of chocolate cake, all day, will make you thin... then you deserve to be whatever weight you are. Vegetables, Fruit, Lean Protein, Nuts & Legumes, PAIRED with exercise is the only healthy way to go. On Jillian Michaels, she is on a show that is FOUNDED on the basis of: lots of exercise and healthy eating. I cannot imagine she would knowingly be partnered with a company so fundamentally against what she constantly preaches. I guess we'll see....

I'm glad someone's suing her. She barks at contestants on the Biggest Loser about how only diet and exercise will help them lose weight, and then she puts her name on these bogus "fat burning" supplements. Hypocrite?
