LeBron

Sued by Man

Claiming to Be His Father

7/8/2010 3:40 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ has learned ... LeBron James and his mother Gloria James are being sued for millions by a man who claims he tried to prove he's the NBA star's biological father -- but LeBron and his mom tampered with the evidence in a diabolical cover-up.

The lawsuit is explosive -- in it, 55-year-old Leicester Bryce Stovell claims he met Gloria in a D.C. area bar in 1984 ... and had unprotected sex with her on the night they met. He later found out she was 15-years-old at the time ... he was 29.

According to the docs -- filed recently in federal court -- Gloria has spent the rest of her life shielding LeBron from the truth.

But the man making the claim isn't some schmuck -- dude is a Princeton graduate ... who earned a law degree from the University of Chicago ... and then became a Senior Legal Advisor for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

In his suit, Stovell claims he has a very clear recollection of the night he had "consensual sexual relations" with Gloria -- in fact, he even remembers apologizing for his sub-par performance.

Leicester claims Gloria went back to her hometown in Ohio after they hooked up -- but returned several months later to inform him she was pregnant with a boy named LeBron ... but she never specifically identified the father.

Leicester -- a self-proclaimed high school star athlete -- says he remembers telling Gloria, "Well, if he's mine, make sure he plays basketball." He claims that was the last time he saw Gloria for more than 20 years.

According to the docs, Leicester claims he reconnected with Gloria over the phone in 2007 -- when he began to think he could be LeBron's father ... partly because they look almost identical.  Leicester also notes that when he saw LeBron at an NBA game he was, "struck by our similarity in appearance ... James and I are nearly if not identical height and pigmentation and have very similar athletic body types."

Leicester claims during the 2007 phone call -- Gloria denied ever meeting him -- threatened to have him physically harmed -- and told him, "LeBron's money is for his children."

A few days after the phone call, Leicester claims LeBron -- through his lawyer -- agreed to take a DNA paternity test.

Leicester claims he was given results that showed he was not LeBron's dad ... but several months later, he began to suspect that the results were tampered with ... and Gloria and LeBron were behind the fraud.

So why would LeBron participate in such a cover-up? Leicester claims it's all, "due to anger at perceived abandonment and conflict arising from his image as a successful fatherless child from the projects."

He also claims that Gloria had "fabricated" a story about LeBron's real father for the "one dimensional commercial image-making purpose ... to make [LeBron's] life suggestive of Spike Lee's popular 1998 sports drama film, 'He Got Game.'"

Leicester is now seeking $4 million from both LeBron and his mother -- claiming fraud, defamation and misrepresentation.

And check this out -- Leicester also points out that LeBron named his 2nd son "Bryce" -- and claims it's no coincidence.  As we said, Leicester's middle name is Bryce.

LeBron's reps could not be reached for comment.

QE2 - He does admit he commited statutory rape! Only he found out later was when he realized it, whch by the way, in now way do I agree is right (ignorance is not an excuse.) Also, antoher thing. How else was this guy supposed to know that she was pregnant with his child when she never contacted him for child support after establishing she was pregnant but not telling him who the father was? Most women want child support to support the upbringing of their child, however he was never informed he owed anything to this child, not thinking it was his. Who knows? Maybe she never knew either... Did I say LeBron wanted a relationship with his father? No. I said the actions these two possibly committed has prevented him from establishing a realtionship with his alleged son as well as extending family.

Ok, so what if he IS the father? BFD. He obviously didn't make any serious attempts to be a part of LeBron's life when he was growing up. He waited until 2007 when he found out LeBron was loaded to step up! Screw him. The guy is obviously s***.

@105 I am Spartacus, so are you saying she didn't raise her son? Did she feed him and clothe him and make sure he went to school? Where was this dude, he could have been sending her a monthly check if he was so sure that was his son. What do you think family courts are for, he is full of it and he wants that payday....pleeease!!!! As for the hummer they dropped it because his mother had a JOB and showed that she got it for him on his birthday....Stop hating low life men should not claim kids because they think there is pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

People were all over that womans side that claimed Tiger was her sons father..in the end she knew all along that kid wasn't his, but not according to the TMZ posts, until the real DNA results were shown.

Yo, 111 and 112! Read the story again! The mother never told the alleged father he was or wasn't the father! He never had a clue! And when he was not requested to pay child support, I'm sure he expects what every guy out there expected. Not the father!

Why does this guy want money out of this? It makes him seem very shady. To me it seems he has zero claim to Lebron's money? weird

I do not care if he is a Princeton grad and have a law degree. This guy is an absolute low life s***. As a 29 year man, he meets a 15 year old girl and has sex with her. In most states that would be considered statutory rape. She tells him she is pregnant, but he follows up with her 23 years later, after the child has become rich and famous. In the meantime, this low life s*** earns a good salary as a lawyer, while the young teenager is struggling to raise a child. Why did he not request a paternity test when the child was born? Why wait until he is an adult and has become rich and famous? Is he willing to pay the 18 years of child support that he dodged paying? LeBron does not need a father now. He needed a father when he was growing up. The only reason this low life s*** wants to be a father to LeBron now is so that he can get part of his fortune.

Lets say for the sake of discussion that this man is Labron's biological sperm donor aka SD. What the hell makes him think he is entitled to Labrons hard earned money? He sure as hell never taught him how to play basketball, nor did he contribute monetarily to raising him to be the decent man his mother raised him to be! He is more of an EMBARRASEMENT than a father!
What a piece so crap! You can quote me on this aka mspaap2u!

Doesn't matter if he fathered LeBron, he was never an actual father to him, never helped raise him, so no money for him!

@114 Tess, then why did he say she told him she was pregnant with a boy that she was going to name LeBron, read again. I didn't even know they could tell the sex back then.

I find it odd that a man with a law degree would admit to the statutory rape of a teenager.
I have to wonder about anyone who'd file such a frivolous lawsuit, especially after abandoning his parental responsibilities for the first two decades of LeBron's life.
