The producers of "Jersey Shore" don't want to cave to the cast's demand for more money, and are ready to cut the cord, TMZ has learned.
TMZ broke the story ... members of the cast went on strike yesterday, refusing to shoot over the weekend for Season 3.
Sources connected with 495 Productions tell TMZ the cast is ultimately hurting the show. As one source put it, "The show is not about famous rich people with managers coming to the Shore."
495 would like to keep a few of the cast members -- notably The Situation, Snooki and Pauly D -- but they think the strike by the cast is the last straw.
We're told the cast feels like they've been tricked, because they felt their contract -- which gives each of them $10,000 an episode -- was only supposed to cover Season 2 in Miami. They feel they're being screwed now that producers want them to go to the Shore and shoot another installment under the existing deal.
As we first reported, The Situation is being tempted with a sweet new contract and we're told it's pissed off some of the other cast as well as the crew.
Here's the rub ... Sources say MTV thinks they have "magic in a bottle" with this group and wants to keep the cast intact.
A rep for MTV had no comment.

If MTV really likes this format they could easily replace the cast members. Any show that is filmed at the seaside jersey shore would be successful. There are so many groups of people that stay there for the summer that are just like the cast members. MTV could save a fortune - replace the cast and keep it "jersey shore". Before jersey shore aired MTV had true life summer at the jersey shore and it was the same exact show! Unfortunately for the cast members, they are a dime a dozen!
MTV your just being stupid right now, I'm sure you have read the complaints coming from reviews about your show "Jersey Shore." The question is why can't you respect the people who constantly complain about these losers? Cancel the show, get rid of those losers, and put music back on instead of stupid shows like this.

WTF! Who do these idiots think they are, the cast from "Friends" or something?! These A**holes all of a sudden got freaking demands. My solution is set them free from the reality show bondage theyre suffering in, since they're such poor underpaid, underVALUED star slaves working for nothing but free tans and hair products, and send them right back to what they were doing before they were cast on the show. Tell them to go back and resume they're previous careers because Im sure all them took paycuts and accepted demotions from their previous lofty careers just to grace the airwaves with their freaking "Talent". Get real "Jersey Shorians" or whatever they're called.
