Don't break out the Manischewitz just yet ... TMZ has learned NBA superstar Amar'e Stoudemire has not found concrete evidence that proves he comes from Jewish lineage ... but he's definitely looking. 
Stoudemire's agent tells us, "I know there are some reports that he is Jewish, but he is not. He
thinks there may be some Jewish blood on his mother's side and he is
researching it."
Amar'e -- who just signed a $100 million contract with the NY Knicks -- is currently vacationing in Israel, where he's learning Hebrew and "studying the religions there."

"Jewish" is NOT a nationality, lineage or bloodline. Judaism is a religion. It is something one chooses to practice not something genetic that is passed to children through birth like blue eyes or red hair. Jewish people can be found in almost all nations of the world and do not come from only Israel. ARRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

MIGHT be Jewish eh? Judaism is a Religion, not a RACE of people. Hell, I might be Zoroastrian if I go back far enough. err, rather, my ancestors may have held that particular faith.
Yes, there are peoples from an area who have physical commonalities and their Jewish faith is another thing many have in common --- but there are Jews from many different places now and throughout history.
So WHICH Jewish populaton is he decended from? Middle East? Russia? Eastern Europe? Ethiopia?
Why is he studying the faith just coz of that revelation? How does he know his ancestors who may have been Jewish were actually observant of the faith, even if they were from Israel area? Maybe they were only from that area, and Jewish by default but not by practice.
So he's studying Judaism now because of that information? Why not run out and study some African Tribal spirituality that his ancestors MAY have been a part of? Pick a tribe. Any tribe! African is African right? Jewish is Jewish, no matter where they're specifically decended from. Right? ppfft! Seems to me to be more pertinent to study the culture and history of the area his ancestors were from,that'd give a more tangible conenction to those specific people... but... good for him to find an interest and run with it. :-)
