Charlie Harper

Dies Tragic Death

6/27/2011 1:17 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Two and a Half Men" will turn dark for just a minute or two when it premieres in September ... because Alan and Jake will learn Charlie Harper bit the dust.

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ ... Chuck Lorre's plan is to make sure Charlie Sheen can NEVER come back on the show.  Although the first show won't be filmed until August 5, producers have been kicking around scenarios, which include Charlie driving a car over a cliff.

Of course, it would be art imitating life, because two of Charlie Sheen's cars went down a cliff on Mulholland Drive.

As for how Ashton Kutcher enters the picture, there's been talk that he buys Charlie's house after Charlie kicks the bucket.

Sources tell us ... the first script still isn't locked and Lorre often makes changes until close to taping, but it's pretty clear -- Charlie Harper is pushin' up daisies.

Might as well throw the series off the cliff as well after this episode. Hope they have their resumes up to date.

Let's hope (litigation still pending) that Lorre has the good sense to at least do this post-death, like 1 year later scenario and introduce Ashton as the new house owner. What is going to be interesting to see how they are able to keep the younger brother and nephew in the house if a death scenario is pursued. To be honest that really makes no sense, but in Hollyweird anything goes, right?! Oh well at least Sheen has no hopes of EVER coming back, like he ever did anyway, right?! What a tool! Winning - Lorre! Losing - Sheen! HA HA!

Killing off a major character in a comedic sitcom script = one of the key, surefire ingredients for cancellation.

Here's the thing about A.A. they help treat your illness but you have no follow up in the way of mental health. I commend these friends of "Bill W." however no one ever gets to the "root" of why they drank so the only thing that changes is not drinking.

For Chuck to push A.A on Sheen when he was not ready was of course going to blow up. There is a huge difference of dropping subtle hints and walking away then forcing it down someones throat.

Of course Charlie rebelled it's what he does, but is Chuck really that much better? You don't think he has deep seeded anger over Charlie? Read his vanity cards sometime.......

My idea is better. He runs off to Paris. Rose, while stalking him and posing as a can-can dancer, accidentally kicks him in the head when he, in a drunken state, tries to join in from the audience at the Moulin Rouge.

I think it would be hilarious if Aston showed up as Charlie's Son he never knew he had. LOL. He inherits the house along with his uncle and cousin.

Just goes to show you (unless you're Sheen) that insulting and cussing out the suits of the show you work for is probably not a good idea, when the chips are down. Oh well, what's $2 million per week? Chicken feed.

Dear Mr. Lorre, i doubt Charlie gives a fvck how you unimaginatively kill him off. He's already of to better thing and looking to the future, not stewing on the past like you! LMFAO

He may be minus his two Goddesses now but Charlie Sheen has proved that he is still winning!

The embattled star has inked a deal for a new sitcom with Lionsgate Television and with a bidding war underway he is set to make more money than ever, can exclusively reveal.

"Charlie has inked a deal with Lionsgate Television to create and star in a new sitcom,” an insider tells RadarOnline. “Charlie's character will be very similar to the one he played on Two And a Half Men, however the show will be a lot racier.

"Networks and cable are bidding on the show right now, with TBS being the front runner. TBS recently expanded their comedy division with the acquisition of The Conan O'Brien Show after his fall out with NBC. Plus cable makes more sense because it offers more creative freedom," our insider explains. "In other words the show can be raunchier and more outrageous, which is perfect for Charlie!

"Lionsgate Television will produce the show. They have committed to ten episodes up front with the option to pick-up and produce 90 more episodes if the ratings prove to be successful. This means the sitcom could be on TV for 8 years, which is a long time! It also means that Charlie will make more money than ever before!"

According to our insider Charlie won't be getting paid the $2 million per episode that he received on Two and Half Men, but he will have a higher back-end deal, which means in the long run he could make much more than he did on the CBS show.

"Charlie will make less upfront which is a plus for Lionsgate...this way Lionsgate is less at risk of losing money should the show flop or should Charlie have some sort of meltdown.

"It’s still a risk but the risk is worth it because so many people are interested in Charlie and his wacky life...they are bound to watch the show," our insider says.

Lionsgate has built a strong television presence in production of prime time cable and broadcast network series including Mad Men, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, Blue Mountain State and Tyler Perry's House Of Payne.

Lionsgate Television also plans to release Charlie's nationwide live stage performances, My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option shows."

Different Rules Apply

It is in bad taste to kill of a favorite character on a show that has made people LAUGH for so long - KILLING CHARLIE JUST AIN'T FUNNY FOLKS!!

Have him move to England to be with Rose his true love after all... so much kinder on all of us Charlie Harper (not necessarily Charlie Sheen) fans. Be kind Mr. Lorre.

This just goes to show how vindictive and controlling Chuck Lorre can be. Charlie Sheen doesn't need this show, and it's obvious Chuck doesn't care about its success, only the syndication deal. Hell with Chuck Lorre and his ungratefulness.

So they have no fantasy to do another show, it has to be Two and a half men?

Two and a half men is Charlie Sheen and always will ...

Its kind of ridiculous. I mean, its TV. They can say he died and still bring him back if they ever wanted too. Dont they know about soap operas? The characters have 10 lives. I think it would be too dark and dismal to kill him off. Poor taste. They dont need to kill the character to make sure he doesnt come back, just dont write him back. Its as simple as that.
