Hines Ward Busted for DUI

7/9/2011 6:35 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Hines Ward -- star wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champion -- was arrested this morning for driving under the influence of alcohol ... TMZ has learned.

According to DeKalb police, Ward was stopped about 2:30 AM on Buford Highway after an officer spotted his Aston Martin failing to maintain lane and hitting a curb. Ward reportedly failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer test.

He posted $1,000 bond and was released.

Hey Judge on Willie Nelson, why don't you put the drunk drivers in jail? I would rather be on the road with a driver user marijuana than a driver using Vodka. Smoking pot doesn't pickle your brain like alcohol fumes do. Adults with a drunk driving arrest over the legal limit should be immediately jailed and banned from driving for life, so they can't use a vehicle as a weapon against an innocent person. No second chances. Driving is not a right, it's a privilege!

Chill out, people. All the details are not in. According to my reliable media source who spoke with the sheriff's office, Hines blew a .046 and was charged with a misdemeanor. The reason he was stopped in the first place is still unknown. Hines possesses a stellar career and reputation. Let's not throw him under the bus for one ALLEGED mistake. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Dee....are you kidding me? Your blaming it on the government for the reason why bars stay open so late. That is so dumb. There is a legal limit in which people are allowed to drink. Its legal. When you are above the limit, and get into your car and drive Especially when you are able to hire a driver or above all else have a DD on speed dial, then it is YOUR responsibility. The government letting bars stay open late? Are you kidding me? People drink at ALL hours. For your theory to work, prohibition would have to come into effect, and if you've studied history, you know how that went. Drink responsibly. Also...to the person saying that when we point a finger at someone there are three pointing back....not so. I don't drink at all. I don't do drugs. I don't do anything that could possibly get me in trouble like that or kill someone. So I point all 10 of mine at him.

Ben rap-a-burger, now Hines Wards buster for DUI... these players aren't' exactly the sharping tools in the sheds! (Yo! you guys are freakin' millionaires, sh*t!)

Police lie in wait after clubs close and prey on those going home after partying. Drinkers should understand this and call a cab instead. I'm sure he won't let this happen again. He's to smart to let this happen twice.

I have a solution... LEGALIZE DRUNK DRIVING. Then just throw the book at anyone who hurts another person or property while under the influence. Until you make bars and booze illegal, we will drive drunk. I'm not saying its right, but thats the way it is. Or a better solution: Illegalize Alcohol and promote marijuana!!!

American Fact

British Producers pushed this guy to win DWTS even though Kirstie had way more support.

This is what today's entertainment does push bums and whores as winners (Charlie Sheen).

Give the guy a break. He could have harmed someone and he didn't. It's not like someone he was with went missing and he reported it 31 days later. DUI holds the highest conviction in the country. That doesn't make it right, but it means that a lot of folks go through it. Hopefully he learned his lesson.
