Katherine Jackson

Courting MASSIVE Stars for

MJ Tribute Show

8/9/2011 5:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson's mom has personally reached out to some of the biggest music stars in the world in the hopes of getting them to perform at the big MJ tribute show in October ... but only ONE of them is a definite YES ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to the concert tell us ... Jay-Z, Kanye West, Cee Lo, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Bruno Mars have each received an invitation (pictured above) from Katherine Jackson ... asking them to perform 1 or 2 of their favorite MJ songs in Cardiff, Wales on Oct. 8.

Katherine promises each star who signs on will be provided with "first class travel accommodations."

We're told Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars have each respectfully declined the invite due to scheduling conflicts ... however, Christina and Kanye are leaning towards "Yes."

As for the one person who's already signed on the dotted line -- sources tell us Cee Lo from Gnarls Barkley was quick to commit.

Tickets to the event have not gone on sale yet -- but promoters say they will become available once a complete line-up is booked.

Can we just end this??? I am SO SICK of the Michael Jackson endless worship tour ... enough!!! Please stop!!! No more tributes and concerts in his honor ... just cut to the chase: have him declared a saint and build a shrine to him and get it over with!! Honestly, there are many people in this world deserving of rememberance for their selfless sacrifice and contribution to humanity ... MJ doesn't come close to that description. Isn't it enough that he was supporting his entire family except Janet??? How long is his family going to continue on with this charade to suck every last drop of money they can out of his persona???

I think most fans would be okay if Michael's murder was resolved or at least had decent coverage without all the lies and distortion. The only legit coverage for Michael comes from his fans who continue to ask questions and reject all the BS stated/written about his murder (imo).
Couldn't agree more!
As you know, I've always supported the Jackson family in general, but even I'm getting sick of all this 'tribute' rubbish.
Someone should tell the Jacksons that they have really got it wrong this time. No one wants to listen to other performers singing Michaels songs. It is not the same without MJ singing!! They just sound empty without him.
How can it be a 'celebration' when, for most of us, it just serves to remind us that he's not here anymore. If we really want to remember Michael, we simply have to listen to his records. Also a 'tribute' has no integrity if there is a financial advantage to be gained. If we really want to pay tributeto Michael, then let's focus on convicting Murray, and sending out a message to all the other 'Doctor Feelgoods' that their legalised drug pushing will not be tolerated any longer.

This is suppose to be for charity? Michael was discovered in America. I don't understand why go out of country for a tribute. I guess the USA isn't important to this family!

Kayne's name on this thing = the kiss of death. Stupid moneygrubbin' Jacksons teaming up with a nut job attention whore. Sad.

This Tribute Concert has made me feel uneasy from day one. All this publicity for a Concert that has no stars/entertainers contracted, which I think was the fact when it was first announced. Normally, the stars are signed and THEN the promotion starts.

Seems to me the Jacksons have very bad organisational and business skills as this is not the first time planned Tributes raise questions or actually get cancelled. Same thing with Michael who, time after time, picked shady businesspartners and even so called "friends". Too bad.

Katherine wants to celebrate the life of her son, and yet Kanye's name is the larger font. That alone ruined the whole idea for me.

This family is truly pathetic. Still trying to squeeze the michael jackson tit. The woman, (Katherine) is becoming just like the bulldog face herself.

This family is nothing but a bunch of money W h o r e s. I am sick of seeing MJ mom AND dad do what ever to make a buck off their sons death. SICK SICK SICK!

Well, 'punkkin, I have a feeling we ain't seen nothin' yet. LaToya (that paragon of integrity and credibility) just announced that she's retiring from her illustrious music career after her next album comes out (which, she claims, "fans" are "begging" her for) to focus on "various BUSINESS projects." Undoubtedly, virtually every "business project" will involve her brother Michael, and will be executed overseas (a la Papa Joe) to evade the legal reach of her brother's estate executors and their lawyers.

Sorry, it's time somebody speaks OUT!

In the words of Mark Twain, "Better to be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

If the Jacksons want to make money they need to pull MJ outta his coffin, put some wheels on him, and do a "Weekend At Bernies" type show wheeling him around on stage like Britney Spears on stage props.

Her Imperial and Royal Majesty

MJ does not deserve a tribute. He was a drug addict, he engaged in some questionable practices around young people, and he probably had serious psychological problems. Moreover, his music has not stood the test of time --- and not much time has passed. While we can forgive a mother for exaggerating the importance of her son and minimizing his problems, MJ doesn´t deserve a tribute.

"My son was a fan of your work" ???
Surely, that should be the other way around?
I know MJ worked with Usher, but what about the others? Surely, MJ wasn't really a fan of Justin Bieber!

Why not get the people that Michael really knew or chose to work with, such as Barry Gibb, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross etc.
Now that would be a concert worth seeing!

Oh great. This is all Kanye's ego needs - another boost. And Justin Beiber? REALLY? That's an insult to MJ in my opinion.
