Jermaine Jones

Will Be Kicked Off

'American Idol'

3/14/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Jermaine Jones will be kicked off American Idol
Jermaine Jones will be kicked off "American Idol" Wednesday night, after producers learned he concealed the fact that he was arrested twice last year and has outstanding warrants ... TMZ has learned.

As we first reported, producers discovered Tuesday that Jermaine had lied about his criminal history and that triggered the decision to confront him on camera Tuesday afternoon.

We're told one of the incidents involved violence, which was particularly troublesome to producers.  He also lied to cops by giving them fake names both times he was arrested.

"A.I." sources tell us ... Jermaine will appear on the show tomorrow night before he is sent packing.

Over the last few days, we've been reporting that Jermaine told producers his father abandoned him 10 years ago, but his dad called TMZ and called B.S. on his son, saying they see each other regularly.

Jermaine began tweeting that he never told producers about his dad abandoning him.  We're told the producers -- who knew Jermaine had made the statement -- became generally suspicious and began looking more closely at his background, and that's what led to the revelation of his criminal history.

Maybe the time to check someones background is BEFORE you put them on TV.

Frankly, if you didn't see this one coming, you can consider yourself dense.

The minute TMZ posted that one of the contestants would get kicked out, I was ready to bet everything it would be that 'gentle giant' phony... and, obviously, I was right.

Nigel, instead of worrying about AI's stagnant ratings, how about doing some proper background checks next season, so such a mess doesn't happen again?

... Gotta say, though - it's be years since Idol has been that interesting in my book. And, unsurprisingly, it has nothing to do with the singing.

I'm bummed that the Idol folks didn't know this. We all make mistakes and when the stakes are so high...you get scared. Was he deceiving on purpose? Maybe...He wasn't that great, just a good voice. Too bad. so sad...

Someone should still help the dude.

If he got where he got - it means his instincts are there.

Don't give up, dude -

It's Hollywood - we all have a past.

Could it be that they realize bringing him back was a mistake, so they are trying to get rid of him before he gets voted off and they feel stupid? Just saying?

Are ratings really that bad that AI went from a singing competion to a circus side show.

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. Oh well, least I don't have to watch to see who was booted. Thanks TMZ. I'm not shocked, he was my first guess.

Looks like we are losing John Coffey. Now I won't get to hear him call Ryan "boss" and see him suck the stupidity out of Randy Jackson. Maybe when they kick him off, they'll forget to put water on the sponge so that it's an extra painful send off.

Wasn't he the "Wild Card" they brought back? Who will replace him?

Okay...sitting here pretty shocked at the racism going on in the responses to this post.... There are a lot of "white trash" criminals, who happen to have grown up in bad situations with no opportunities, bad neighborhoods, etc... There is unfortunately more people of color in this country that are struggling, so maybe a higher statistic of felons, but really, it has nothing to do with color, and everything to do with cir***stance. Racism is so 2011? Anyway... i guess i'm not so cynical that i can still be surprised by comments like these...:-(

I'm also pissed that the likes of Reed Grimm missed out because of this buffoon.
