Octomom's House

A Picture of Squalor

4/25/2012 6:05 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Octomom and the horrible house conditionsTMZ has obtained pictures of Octomom Nadya Suleman's home that have triggered a police and child services investigation into allegations that her 14 kids are living in horrendous conditions and are being grossly neglected.

TMZ broke the story, Octo's hairstylist, Stephanie, went to La Habra cops Tuesday afternoon and filed a formal complaint. A La Habra cop and 3 reps from the Orange County Department of Children and Family Services went to Octo's house Tuesday night to investigate.

One picture shows two children pooping in a portable training toilet in the backyard. We're told the plumbing in the house is shot, and only one toilet is operational.

Another photo shows Octo just after she got her hair done. What's shocking is that she locked her kids in the bedroom by propping a chair against the door so they couldn't get out.

Yet another pic shows the children's bedroom, with 2 cribs and a mattress. Stephanie told cops some of the kids are forced to sleep on the floor.

And there's more ... a pic shows some of the kids in the backyard, barefoot, dirty and wearing no pants.

Stephanie tells TMZ, "The kids are in desperate need of help, and I tried to help and she's not open to anyone helping her." She says the boys are wearing girl's clothes, they are neglected and Nadya is just incapable of caring for them.

Authorities stayed at Octo's home Tuesday night for an hour-and-a-half, and determined the kids were not in danger. There will, however, be follow-up with Children's Services.

How do you potty train, bathe, wipe, feed, clothe, and give them EACH the attention they need? Most of the writing on the walls appear to be done with spray paint and by an 'adult'. The 'plumbing' issue is the landlord's problem...why hasn't HE fixed it? And the biggest mess appears to be in Nadia's bedroom. How the heck does she tell what's dirty and what's not..or does she care? Her priority seems to be on the way she looks...How about sending her to 'parenting classes' lol! Or is it too late?

I know people who have fewer kids whose homes are in worse shape. About the potties being outside, millions of children poop outside in the world. Octomom has a lot of children potty training all at once and no home could possibly have enough toilets (except for possibly Tori Spelling's former Mansion) so the training potties are hardly a big deal. Time outs are also often used even on Super Nanny and are far more effective than spanking. I bet that hair dresser has zero children of her own!

geez cut her some slack- so the laundry is not done- that is not a crime- she has mattresses on the floor?Big deal , some kids prefer that- and being outside in tee shirts and undies/diapers, yeah, we have all done that- it is nice and sunny- she is doing the best she can- why doesn't anyone suggest the DR who allowed her to have the in vitro done not paying some bucks towards her- if she had aborted any or all of the babies then half of you would be freaking out over I pro choice, yes, but the Dr who did this needs to take some of the blame- to her credit she has not sold herself the pay Jon and Kate did their lot.....

Squalor? Really? I find it pretty obvious none of the people writing these comments or the author of this article have small children. I what I would expect in a house with 11 kids. Of course it's going to be messy. There wasn't one picture that looked like children being neglected.

I can get some of the short cuts, toddlers in shirts and diapers only .. if you live in a warm climate area, messy... even training potties outside if the yard is fenced. I don't get the chair against the door and I don't get the all the spray painted graffiti. What the hell is that? Mess and doing the best you can with too many 2yr olds and little money ok... making your house look like an abandoned mill where teens go to sneak beer and pot...that's just messed up.

That doesn't exactly qualify as "squalid" conditions... the only truly messy thing I see is a room full of clothes, which I've seen in plenty of children's (and adults) rooms. I've seen squalor, and that isn't it. HOWEVER, it's not exactly a great situation, either, which is no surprise. The woman clearly has parenting issues, but let's face it... so do a lot of parents and I've seen kids in worse situations. Broken plumbing and a child who likes to spray paint your home aren't illegal. Maybe I'm a bit jaded about this, but those kids are living in a castle compared to some children in other parts of the workd, and even in the US.

There are a lot of people who are willing to help her out, but she's not willing to accept the terms of their help.

not squalor! disaray/confusion/messy
big difference
try taking are of a housefull of little kids and see if you have time for anything except laundry and meals if that
feel bad for her because she's in a catch 22
obviously needs help-who wouldn't under these cir***stances
can't afford it
and if she accepts any, she's criticized
people should stop complaining about her and help if they can
and the idiotic incompetent doctor who implanted all the embryos should be sued or somehow held financially responsible in some way and that would make all the difference
people complain about her
it was the negligent doctor who is the cause of all of this
any responsible doctor would not have even implanted one embryo into a single mother of six!!
he would have seen it for what it was- a mentally unstable woman feeding an unhealthy need

I like the people who feel sorry for Nadya. It's like her arm is broken and everybody is telling her to go to the doctor, but the pity partiers think everybody should keep sending bandaids, or offer to hold her arm in place for her while she gets her hair did.

What shocked the hell out of me was just seeing on the news, about 5 minutes ago, that the police and CPS do NOT feel that the children are in danger and that they will NOT be taken out of the home. WHAT???? ARE YOU FRIGGIN' SERIOUS????? Pooping outside in porta pottys? Some children are sleeping on the floor? Boys are wearing girl clothes? Running around outside without half their clothes on? The place is a dump. And the $2,000 she gets each month from our tax dollars is not enough to feed all of these kids. And then this bitch is out getting her hair done???
There isn't a problem with her and the kids....THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH OUR SYSTEM!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING??

not that i condone any of this neglect, but if you look closely at the picture of the kids outside, it looks like it was staged. both of them are sitting withour their shirts pulled up in the back. so if those two are really going to the bathroom, then they better change their clothes immediately.

Her kids should be taken away and she should be force to have her tubes tied.

As a foster parent who is well versed in the CPS system, those photos won't constitute the removal of the children. A messy house and half-dressed kids is not a crime. Negligence and/or eminent danger must be proven. My heart goes out to her fourteen children. If they are removed, they won't stay together, yet won't understand why not.
