"Top Gun" director Tony Scott had multiple prescription drugs in his system when he lept off an L.A. bridge to his death ... including a sleeping aid and an anti-depressant.

According to the L.A. County coroner's office ... the toxicology tests showed Scott had therapeutic levels of Lunesta and the anti-depressant Mirtazapine in his system at the time of his death.

We broke the story ... Scott -- who directed a slew of Hollywood classics -- died on August 19 after jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro.

As usual your headline is misleading at best, you imply that the drugs were cause of or contributed to his death. "Scott had therapeutic levels of Lunesta and the anti-depressant Mirtazapine" the KEY term is "therapeutic" I know that you are only pimping for more clicks, but the least you could do is do it HONESTLY.

This guy apparently didn't see the commercials about anti-depressants causing suicidal thoughts. I have no idea why people continue taking these things.
It's like saying migraine medicine will stop the pain but will also make the blood vessels in the brain explode... and the person takes it anyway.

Just some of the side effects of Mirtazapine: abnormal thinking; confusion; new or worsening agitation, panic attacks, impulsiveness, irritability, hostility, restlessness, or inability to sit still; suicidal thoughts or actions; difficulty concentrating or thinking, memory problems, unusual or severe mental or mood changes; worsening of depression.

Everyone I know takes a sleeping aide and/or an antidepressant. None of them have jumped off of
bridges. Come on, TMZ? You are soooo self righteous and judgmental. Maybe Tony Scott was
clinically depressed and wanted to leave this world?
You act like his prescription drugs were the cause of
his suicide. It does sound like a lot of Scientology responses.

If you think that the medications caused him to commit suicide you're full of ****! Medication can only do so much. If he wasn't getting counseling then he didn't want help.

"We broke the story". OMG Harvey. Did you have to include that? Is that something you are so proud of that you had to include it in the man's death details. I did respect you.

I have heard of a link to suicide with Lunesta. I can't say that it happens with everyone. I'm sure there are those that benefit from it. I also know that with SOME antidepressants they can have the OPPOSITE affect. Either way, it alters your thinking.
