7:49 AM PT -- The man who was killed in the shooting has been identified as 49-year-old Adrian Mojica Moreno.

Law enforcement tells TMZ ... Adrian and Hector were childhood friends. Adrian was not involved in the sport of boxing, but we're told he was big into cockfighting.

Boxing legend Hector "Macho" Camacho went into cardiac arrest after being shot in Puerto Rico last night ... and doctors say "the prognosis is not good."

Camacho was hit several times in the face and neck in a drive-by shooting outside of San Juan ... and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

A rep for the hospital told reporters, "The situation with 'Macho' is very delicate ... his physical condition will help him but we will see."

The rep added, "[Camacho] went into cardiac arrest. The doctors were able to get his heart started again with the medicine and we are maintaining his blood pressure and pulse stable medically right now to see whether during this morning, afternoon or evening we see a positive change."

Camacho was a passenger in a Ford Mustang when the shooting happened. The driver of Camacho's car was killed in the attack.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Hate to say it, but "very, very, very, very critical" means "waiting for the family's decision to end life-support". Peaceful journey to you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to His Mother, Family and love one’s.
He is a Puerto Rican Legion in the Boxing world, It is a shame that he
Might die in the land he loved and represented so much. Again my love
And condolences go out to his family. Thanks you Machoman.

Of course he's in critical condition, he's in a hospital in Puerto Rico. He's probably sharing an ER room with a chicken and being worked on by a goat farmer.

I saw the pictures, and I can assure you this is not San Juan, Puerto Rico. This must be one of the newer districts or neighborhoods from San Juan.

San Juan is a gorgeous city with great food and entertainment, lots of European influence. The
largest city under the jurisdiction of the United States. San Juan was founded by Spanish colonists in 1521, and is the second oldest European-established city in the Americas. A very diverse city.
The city is divided into two sections. Old San Juan and New San Juan. Old San Juan, which has been kept as intact as possible to resemble the Spanish era of 1521, and the New San Juan, which resulted as an expansion due to growth in population.
The architecture is more varied in other districts of the city, from Art Deco to very modern structures.
Either way you walk, you can either see the ocean or feel the breeze of the ocean. There's entertainment until 4am in the morning, and many places never close. Casinos are open 24/7.

The city has been the host of numerous important events within the sports community, including the 1979 Pan American Games, 1966 Central American and Caribbean Games, 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classics, the Caribbean Series and the Special Olympics and MLB San Juan Series in 2010.

Above is was composed from wikipedia and part of my personal experiences in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I used to go there every year, and have nothing but good things to say about the Island. The locals are great and most of them speak fluent English and Spanish. I have not been back for about 6 years now, because, YES, the crime rate is cronic! Statistics show that a person is killed via violent crime every 15 minutes. And since the President of the United States publicly declared Puerto Rico one of the most dangerous places in the world, I have not being back.
But I thought I should shed some light by sharing do***ented and personal experiences. The whole world is in chaos right now, we are all going through tough times. And rejecting and trashing a place mostly by people who's never been there is both unfair and ignorant.

Somewhere else doctors reported Camacho as brain dead. Coupled what the authorities are saying and the facts here, doesn't stand a chance,

Mighty Mike

I do not wish ill will on anyone, and I hope he pulls through and changes his lifestyle. Growing up watching him box, he was one of the most annoying fighters in the ring. It seems he ran from every fight he was in but hopefully this is one fight he faces head on. Pull through Hector!
