49ers Player Chris Culliver

Gays Are NOT Welcome

In Our Locker Room

breaking news

3:15 PM PT -- The 49ers organization is speaking out AGAINST Culliver ... saying the team "rejects" Chris' comments.

A rep for the 49ers says the team has already addressed the matter with Chris ... and adds, "There is no place for discrimination within our organization at any level."

"We have and always will proudly support the LGBT community.”

Gay football players are NOT welcome in the San Francisco 49ers locker room ... at least according to one current 49ers player.

Chris Culliver -- who started 6 games as cornerback for the team this season -- made the homophobic comments to Artie Lange during a radio interview at a Super Bowl media event earlier this week.

When asked if gay players would be welcome on the team, Culliver said ... "I don't do the gay guys man. I don't do that."

Artie then asked if Chris knew of any gay players on his team ... to which Culliver answered, "No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do."

He continued, "Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah … can't be … in the locker room man. Nah."

Culliver also said ... if a gay player were to make it in the NFL, he should not only keep his sexuality a secret from the other players  ... but stay quiet for 10 YEARS after that.

Culliver and the 49ers will take the field on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens -- a team which features a very outspoken pro-gay rights advocate Brendon Ayanbadejo.

Culliver's feelings are NOT shared by his entire team ... earlier this week, several members of the 49ers spoke in SUPPORT of gay players ... including coach Jim Harbaugh.

“I ask all players to play through their own personality and be who they are. What you ask of a player is to be a great teammate and be a good player. My expectations would be the same,” Harbaugh said. “Personally, there’s no discrimination in my heart.”

Linebacker Larry Grant echoed Harbaugh ... saying, "At the end of the day, we are all family in this locker room, and we accept each player for whoever they are."

Ditto for cornerback Tarell Brown ... who said, "Whatever makes you happy, do it. I just feel like, you shouldn’t hide it. At the end of the day don’t be embarrassed with what you are, or what you do. If you are that way, that’s you.”

Earlier this year, several members of the team participated in a video for the "It Gets Better" campaign to provide support for the LGBT community. Culliver was not featured in the video.

this man needs to learn that people are all the same.. this man needs to wake up & and learn to talk with some kind of grammar. and his Ebonics sounds like he has had no schooling at all. so the schools he went too they did not go him any good. that being said. he is ignorant to say the lease and a moron . he does need to lose his job.. not suspend but fire, take like that is not only wrong but can hurt others. what about kids who look up to him in High School and think that is the way to think he can do damage with his words. get him out of there and fire him , then lets see where he is in 10 yrs. i bet in the welfare line. i really do think San Fran should take a real stand on this.. and be fast about it as well. cause the kids who look up to this man is going to think that is alright to say such bad things and kids who are gay in there schools could be hurt from his words.. get him out of there ...

Culliver is an ass.As a long time 49ers fan and a gay man, to have a player make such a homophobic statement is sad. I understand that ersnot everyone will agree with if, but as a person in the spotlight and as a role model, he really needs to keep his comments to himself. Proud of Harbaugh, Grant and Brown for standing by their support of the LGBT community. Good luck to the 49ERS in the Super Bowl this coming Sunday. Hope Culliver will be on the sideline.

People shouldn't take what Chris Culliver says seriously. The guy can't speak like an intelligent person. No one listens to a fool.

Hopefully he will be booted. I hate that my team has players like that. Hope Harbaugh benches his ass this weekend.

The Ghost of John Lennon

Black athletes generate billions with salaries, endorsements, tv commercials and overall economic impact when they play. But when playing days are over too many are broke, discarded and remain Black America's untapped resource. White supremacy has recognized and demonized blacks as being physically and spiritually superior. It is alright to be a superior athlete. Just don't rub it in White folks' faces. Black athletes are moving targets for the media because of their celebrity status and potential to marshal Black youth in more positive directions. Many of the athletes who get into trouble themselves are young and inexperienced in handling large sums of money, making them susceptible to being relieved of their money (and influence) by getting into trouble. If a Black athlete is outspoken or becomes politically and racially conscious, they are vilified. The ‘Mandingo' was trained to fight the neighboring slave master's bred slave. He was a prized ****** who won large sums of money for his master. Modern Black athletes are the descendants of bred and conditioned field slaves.

They get in trouble for speaking out, getting out of their place, while being honored and even worshipped for their physical prowes.

I think he has the right to say whatever he wants to say. Freedom of speech. As long as he's not gay bashing he can say whatever he feels. This is America. Gay people have to stop being so sensitive. When people say things hold your head high and keep moving.

And there's the novel that no one will read from Lennon.
