Matthew McConaughey

Yeah, I Dropped 30 lbs ...

But My Muscles NEVER Left

3/18/2013 4:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0313_matt_mcconaughey_buff_fameflynetPCNEven when Matthew McConaughey looked deathly skinny he was secretly plotting to immediately pack on the weight and regain his famous physique ... and TMZ has learned how he did it in under 4 months.

By now you've seen the pics -- McConaughey looking ripped again ... after dropping nearly 30 pounds last November to play an AIDS patient.

According to our sources, even though McConaughey looked like an extra on a Sally Struthers infomercial ... he was still pumping iron to keep his muscles intact.

So when it was time to get jacked for his next role ... we're told MM simply added weight by stuffing his face with lots of fish, asparagus, eggs, nuts and sweet potatoes.

Our source described the process as "very well planned out."

All right, all right, all right.

Seriously TMZ, is that the only picture of the skeletor MM that you have? Granted, it's pretty bad, and extremely creepy, but totally over used.

Oh this guy, the one that says Black women aren't cover worthy, he just may not be newsworthy enough for me to care about this article.

What the heck was he trying to convey in that interview anyway? John Mayer and him both have some strange ways of expressing their feelings towards Black women.

" ... Sally Struthers infomercial ..." That's the best you could do? That may be in contention for the most pathetic thread ever on TMZ. *******s.

When is he coming out?

I'm not saying 100% he is using. However steroids, HGH, clenbuterol etc. have been in Hollywood for a very long time. They are taken many times to help people bulk up for a role or slim down. They are almost always used under the care of a experienced trainer and or doctor. To say they are hardly ever used is ignorance.

Manny M

Why is it, with all the special effects capabilities available out there, that they aren't capable of portraying a movie character who is either over or underweight (or physically altered in some way) by just using special effects alone? Why the need for the actor/actress to gain or lose in real life? Just seems like an archaic way of doing things, right?
