Tracy McGrady

Sorry Jordan ...

Kobe Was Way Harder to Guard

8/22/2013 12:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

082113_tracy_mcgrady_launchAt least one NBA star is willing to say it -- Kobe Bryant is a much tougher opponent than his airness, Michael Jordan was ... at least that's what Tracy McGrady hinted. (Pause for lightning bolts)

McGrady was responding to Kobe's recent comment that T-Mac was the hardest player he ever had to guard -- so, we expected him to throw a little praise back at Kobe.

But watch his comments at LAX -- McGrady wasn't just being nice ... and actually went out of his way to say it's "not even close" who his toughest assignment was on the court.

Remember, McGrady checked Jordan during MJ's final championship season in Chicago ... when he was older, but still making opponents look foolish (see Bryon Russell).

So, did Tracy just forget his MJ years -- or does he think Kobe is that good?

This would actually mean something if McGrady was a good defensive player or know as a good defensive player. He wasn't on any all defensive teams & never even a defensive player of the year candidate... Try again TMZ...

I literally created an account to comment on this. The article says mcgrady "checked" jordan during his first title run, but mcgrady says himself he never played jordan in his prime, which is why he had no issue saying kobe. Its as though the person who wrote the article didnt even watch the video. And obviously no one at tmz did any research or knows anything about basketball because jordan was well out of his prime by the time tracu came info the league

I'm inclined to believe T-Mac. He wasn't the only one to check MJ. John Starks did, too, when he was playing for the Knicks under Pat Riley.

At least Kobe and MJ can be in the same conversation, both with amazing achievements and accolades. Lebron, on the other hand, is not even close. He had to go team up with another top 5 player (Wade) while both in their prime. Kobe didn't leave to go play with Shaq. As far as defending Lebron, he relies a lot on the blindness of the refs-with all of his traveling, and flopping. I thought Stern said he would do something about that..and his second title will forever have an asterisk. Funny joe ALL of these players that might've actually given his team a fight during the playoffs were injured-DRose, Rondo, Granger, Kobe (pretty much every Laker was injured), and Westbrook

Tiny Mac is jealous......awwwwww!He is washed up with nothing better to do!Wonder if he looked at Jordan with his good or bad eye?Jordan is the best of all time!Seriously he was surrounded by good players and role players........but just imagine if he was surrounded with the stars Lebron and Kobe were.....

I think people are forgetting how good Kobe and TMac were in there primes. Both were impossible to guard, both took turns winning scoring titles. Two dudes the defense would never man to man with in the 2000's ( Kobe still today). Todays top scorers are good but not even close to the elite scorers back then.
