The Game

Funding 6-Year-Old's Funeral

After Tragic Shooting

Exclusive Details

The Game
is giving $10,000 to the family of a 6-year-old girl who was shot and killed outside her family's home this weekend in order to help out with funeral costs ... TMZ has learned.

The story is heartbreaking -- 6-year-old Tiana Ricks was shot and killed when two men approached her family's home in Moreno Valley and opened fire, striking Tiana and her father.

As she lay dying, Tiana reportedly turned to her father and asked, "Are you okay, Daddy?"

The Game read about the tragedy and tweeted, "This very sad story hit me in a place nothing ever has ... Tiana did not know she was shot & kept asking was her father okay."

So Game decided he wanted to help -- tracking down Tiana's family and pledging $10k to cover funeral costs.

FYI -- Game recently announced he's on a mission to give away $1,000,000 of his own money to those in need -- he calls it TheRobinHoodProject -- and this is just one of his charitable contributions.

TMZ spoke with Tiana's mother Marquia Macklin who tells us, "Game told me that he heard about my story and was really sorry.  He said that he wanted to help out and put me in touch with his financial team."

We're told the money is being wired to Marquia today.  Tiana's funeral will be Saturday.

While Marquia says she's extremely grateful for Game's generosity, she tells us, "It costs so much to bury her ... sadly $10,000 only covers half of the casket and the plot.”

As for the shooting, cops are still on the hunt for the culprits -- and encourage anyone with information to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department.

What a beautiful child! Out of the loop here and don't know who "The Game" is, but thankful he has as big a heart as his pocketbook. Your Mama did good with you, sir.

How ungrateful is this woman? He didn't have to give her a dime, but out of the goodness of his heart he did. She should be thanking God he gave her what he did.

Mom is just speaking the truths of the the costs of burial. This is a little girl with her life ahead of her. A parent in this situation would want the most beautiful funeral and burial plot to honor their innocent child. When we burried my grandad it cost $17000 for a modest casket and funeral. This baby deserves all that money can buy. If some rapper is touched and wants to give his own cash, then good on him. More of the wealthy should follow suit and get a little more personal with their charity. Kinda liked The Game before but now I'm a fan.

I call bull**** on this. 10K is just enough to bury someone especially a kid. Don't be greedy or ungrateful dude.

10 grand only covers half? Maybe you should cut back on some of the freaking limosines!!!

The Game is putting his money where his mouth is, and stepping up to help those in need. I know there are many other people with money, famous or not, who are doing the same thing, and they are all to be commended.

I cannot imagine the grief this family is going through. I have two children and could never fathom losing either one. However, IF the mother did make the statement regarding burial and funeral costs, she should retract it. It makes her sound as if she is trying to take financial advantage of her child's death.

I am a writer and as part of an ongoing project, I am studying the costs, practices, and rituals associated with burials and funerals across the country. The mother's statement is way off base. It is easy to bury a loved one for well under $10,000. The cost associated with the burial says nothing about how much her child was loved in life. She may want to spend $12,000 on a casket, which is possible, but she can also spend $2,500 on a beautiful casket (buy it from someone other than the funeral home who charges upwards of 300% above cost), and the funeral home cannot by law refuse to accept its delivery.

Besides, even if she were to make all of the purchases through the funeral home, she can still spend well under $10,000. I hope her statement was made out of grief and ignorance (not the *bad* kind of ignorance) about her rights, and not from a place of trying to get more money.

sounds like mom wants more money - looking to gain from her loss - 10,000 is more than enough for a nice burial! RIP Tiana!

Ten grand out to be twice or three times what it needs to bury this poor girl. Her family needs to scale down their idea. Money is better spent in moving to a safe locale and getting the hell away from gangs. The Game done great though. Much praise.

Wow, I hope the Mother is reading these comments and knows how pathetic she was for saying that the DONATION only covered part of the cost. This is a GIFT, how dare you complain about it? I would take the money back if it were mine and give it someone who would appreciate it. The audacity of some people!!
