Lionel Richie says his performance at the 1984 Olympics was awesome ... but these days Sochi is no match for the Super Bowl

Richie was strutting out of LAX Friday night when he told us his '84 closing ceremony number was huge at the time ... but now the Super Bowl has more eyes than the world games.

His logic is pretty compelling.  Check it out.

I remember the ceremony. I also remember that he sang "All Night Long" ALl. NIGHT. LONG. It was not 'awesome' It was AWFUL.

Well he obviously thought his performances were good. But really? Nobody cares what he says. Does it matter?

Wow, flagged 13 spambots. Shouldn't I get a fee or something for my trouble?

Where was I? Oh yes, Lionel. Sounds like he's been dancing on the ceiling again.

Lionel Ritchie? I thought he was dead. No one outside of the US gives a crap about the overrated Super bowl. The Olympics are world wide, you dunce.

How hard is it to lip synch any song at the Super Bowl half time? The Super Bowl half time shows are dreadful, lots of hype to get the brain dead to watch. The half time is just as bad as the actual Super Bowl games.

I know this is days late, but did a bit of research and over 900 million people worldwide watched the opening ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and an estimated 1 billion people watched the opening ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. for the 2012 Super Bowl, less than 170 million people tuned in at any one time during the Super bowl, and only 2% of those viewers were from outside of the US.
