Yeah, I Faked it At the Super Bowl

2/4/2014 3:13 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

now admits he pulled a Beyonce at the Super Bowl ... pretending to play "Give It Away" when in fact it was an air guitar performance.

The legendary bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers says the NFL made it clear from the get-go -- the vocals would be live but the bass, drums and guitar would be pre-recorded.

Flea says it was super complicated to pull off the half-time show and the NFL didn't want to botch the spectacle with bad sound.

And Flea says they didn't initially jump at the chance to fake play at the game ... but ultimately decided "it was a surreal-like, once in a lifetime crazy thing to do and we would just have fun and do it."

TMZ is a joke. Check your sources, aka Flea. Pressured by NFL to have live sound with no problems, they agreed after long deliberation because its the SuperBowl. Sensationalism catered to the mob of the masses by TMZ. Enjoy changing no lives with your pointless news organization. Focusing on the celebrity life which no none of you are apart of and which helps no one achieve fulfillment. Wake up and realize you're selling your soul to the masses to keep them asleep. Enjoy your meaningless life.

Oh, and did you ever listen to their music? Check out their 1991 album for starters. Read the lyrics and comprehend what's really going down.

No biggie, I love the Chili Peppers and thought it was very entertaining. That's all that really matters. Chili Peppers did the original track, they were using their own music, not like they were Milli Vanilli.
