Domestic Violence Case Dropped

2/24/2014 12:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0223-ahmed-tmz-01Ahmed Ahmed -- a well-known comic who stars in TBS's "Sullivan & Son" will NOT be charged with domestic violence ... TMZ has learned.

Ahmed was arrested last month after cops responded to a 911 domestic violence call at his house.  Cops say his girlfriend had visible marks so Ahmed was cuffed and booked on felony domestic violence.

The case eventually made its way to the L.A. City Attorney for misdemeanor prosecution, but we've learned the City Attorney will formally reject the case today based on insufficient evidence.

As for the problems in the case ... we're told there is a witness who says the GF did NOT have visible marks on her body.  Also, both the girlfriend and Ahmed called 911 which muddies the waters.

Ahmed's lawyer, Shawn Holley, could not be reached for comment.

It is just too easy to pull this crap when couples get into heated arguments. Sadly, the cops have no choice about responding. And, even worse, real domestic violence episodes do sometimes lead to dead girlfriends and wives. And the occasional dead husband/boyfriend.

I wonder about this conflicting assessment about the girlfriend having or not having marks. Who was this suppose witness and were they an unbiased party? Didn't anyone take a picture of the markings or make notes? To me, that would be a good way to cover everyone responding and make it a bit more difficult for the aggressor/abuser to escape charges because of technicalities or lack of evidence even though the crime very well occurred.

California law states that if a domestic violence call is placed, the police are required to arrest the alleged perpetrator. This does not mean that they are guilty!

While this law is in place to protect a great many victims of domestic violence, it is not without its faults, and this particular case is a prime example. It's far too easy to abuse the system for spiteful purposes.

This story is just another hit and run by the media on a slow night. There's nothing to see here folks. Do your research.
