Chris Brown

Anger Triggered By Bipolar Disorder

2/28/2014 11:15 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Chris Brown has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, severe insomnia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ... and that's why he has had such anger issues ... this according to new court docs.

Chris was in court today for a progress hearing in the Rihanna beating case.  Documents were filed by the facility where Chris just completed 90 days of anger management therapy. In fact, Chris stayed longer, just completing 95 days.

In the legal docs -- obtained by TMZ -- an official from the rehab facility wrote that ... in addition to his diagnosis ... Chris was self-medicating inappropriately.

The facility writes, "Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD." They never explain the cause of the PTSD. The letter also says Chris was diagnosed with Bipolar II.

The letter says Chris is on meds for the bipolar and other conditions.

Chris has learned various relaxation exercises, according to the letter, and he's tested negative for drugs, including weed, during his stay.

The facility says he's doing really well.  It says he gets up at 5 AM and works hard.  They say he's been especially good with community service, saying, "Mr. Brown's attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities."

For all of you massively ignorant people: if you want to bash someone's diagnosis please research it, meet people with it and work with thembfor min. Of a Year then come back and comment. PTSD when undiagnosed for as long as it was (note it said he had PTSD bfr the attack, not excuse just a timeline). It causes severe anger problems and can even Severly Impair a person's judgment. Just the diagnosis helps control it, cause you know why you're angry all the time and can comprehend it better. IF he sticks with the treatment, EVERYONE will see massive change in his demeanor.

Revoke his marijuana card. Seems like it isn't helping with bipolar disorder.

Just for fun, let's put every person on here that says he can't have bipolar disorder because thats not how you act, lets take away there treatments for a year, put them all in a room and see if they all act the same. Then throw in PTSD and insomnia into the room without any treatment. Who wants to bet the ppl with PTSD beat the **** out of the bipolars for being stuck up *****s.

If Fist Brown didn't display the VERY same behavior since the RiRi incident, I might buy this, but he still REEKS of entitlement and continuing the same behavior. He hasn't changed, he just doesn't wanna get caught again. #ASSHOLICBEHAVIOR

It's AMAZING how many doctors comment on a tmz article. Everyone thinks they know everything but don't have the degree or training to back it up. Wonder when Dr. Cornelia's "uber-intelligent" self will weigh in... Smdh...

BS excuse, bought and paid for, and no more applicable to CB than a MENSA membership would be.

CB is a thug, w bodyguards and a baaad temper. He's never fought a fair fight, and never will.

Now that he "might" have to answer for his misdeeds, he buys a shrink evaluation that makes him "mentally ill", therefore not responsible in a legal or financial way.

His "illness" won't interfere w/ his ability to bang chicks, smoke herb, make money or start fights. Just to be "liable" for any actions, 'cause, well, he's sick.

1 week jail, gen pop w/o his giant guards, and his ass would be passed around for cigarettes.
