NBA Owners

Can NOT Force Donald Sterling to Sell Team

... Sources Say

EXCLUSIVE

0426-donald-sterling-clippers-landov-01The NBA owners can NOT band together to force Donald Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers ... multiple well-connected league sources tell TMZ Sports

We're told ... the NBA has the power to fine and suspend Sterling for the racist comments he made during a conversation posted on TMZSports.com, but neither the owners nor the league can force a sale.

Bottom line -- it seems if Sterling is going to leave the NBA for good, it's going to have to be his decision.

Can't force him to, but if he keeps losing sponsors, he'll sell the team.

What if they take away draft picks from the Clippers? Can they do that indefinitely? At some point there would be no team, as everyone else will have left and no one else will want to join the team.

Besides everything Donald Sterling said being tasteless, Does anyone realize this was NOT a public conversation? This was not in depo or in an interview or at his office. This was a private comment between two people OH and a record button. Funny it happens now when the Clippers are just making something of themselves after over 30+ years of him owning it. Hmmmm

Why is everyone surprised? The NBA and sports media and the players all knew for many years this guy was a real racist, they did nothing to stop him. I am sure pro sports is full of team owners who are hardcore racists, but as long as the players take the millions they get they are not going to complain, they just get used every week by the white rich plantation owners to play a game.

Legally they can't, but they can damn sure pressure him to. He has already lost several sponsors. Things like this, and fans boycotting games will help, because it would equate to him spending money and not making money. If he continuously sees minuses across the board, he will be forced to sell.

He should sell why the team is at it's all time highest worth, cash inn a return on his investment & move on. Because that's what a good business man would do before the ship sinks.

Can they ban the team from competing in the league? That's what they do in soccer.
