Depp's 'Blow' Inspiration

RELEASED From Prison

After Almost 20 Years Behind Bars

6/2/2014 8:11 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

George Jung Released From Prison

George Jung -- the prolific cocaine smuggler portrayed by Johnny Depp in the movie “Blow -- has been released from prison after serving almost 20 years behind bars -- and TMZ has a pic of his first moments of freedom.

Jung (now 71-years-old) was doing time at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey and was supposed to be released in November ... but for some reason the ex-drug smuggler got out early.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie ... Jung was one of the biggest coke dealers of the '70s and '80s -- and was said to be responsible for roughly 89% of cocaine smuggled into the country at the time.

Sources tell us Jung is being released to a half-way house on the West Coast ... where he'll receive help transitioning back into society.

Awesome! It was an amazing movie a well. Jbiz responded perfectly to that one person's comment about who was supporting Jung now that he is out before they deleted it. Aha

Feds always release 6 months before Projected Release Date into a halfway house, on parole to keep tabs on them. They offer then assistance to get on their feet. It's up to them if they take the help.

Why glorify some druggie's jail release with this picture like he is some rock star or did something halfway decent?? HE IS A FREAKING DRUG DEALER SMUGGLER THAT HAS DESTROYED COUNTLESS LIVES!!!

Damn TMZ, you guys found a new low!!!

How many lives did he destroy with his cocaine. He shouldn't be out at all. In fact, he should have been terminated for the destructive things he did to people/and society. Soldiers go to war to protect Americans from invaders, and yet, this invader worked internally to destroy the lives of Americans so that he could profit financially. He has no business in our society.

Jung made a fatal mistake in his drug dealing. He forgot or more likely didn't know game theory. There is a scene in the movie where his friend walks through a 3 bedroom house with a box of money and comes back saying there is no where to put it cause all the rooms are stacked full of money! Game theory says when there is a path that guarantees a win you take it. This guy made hundreds of millions, but someone else got to spend most of it. Game theory says after hitting 20 million he should of quit. 20 million would of guaranteed him and his family a comfortable life till the day they died.

I think the sentence was too long. Now he's in his 70s, how is he going to work to support himself? He probably doesn't have enough $ paid into social security. I hate drugs and don't want my kids to do them, but these drug sentences are ridiculous.

Anyway, dude, good luck!
