Paul Walker Death

Thief Gets HAMMERED By Judge

8/14/2014 8:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

A judge just hammered the guy who stole a piece of Paul Walker's death car ... jailing him for 6 MONTHS.

Jameson Witty and another guy lifted a panel from the T-top roof of the Porsche as a tow truck was transporting the wreckage.  TMZ actually got hold of the video ... which caused prosecutors to charge the 2 men with 3 crimes.

Witty and the other guy copped a plea ... and Thursday was judgment day for him.  The other guy is expected to get the same sentence when he goes before the judge in October.

'Fast & Furious 7'

Racing Scene SCRAPPED

We Can't Tolerate Another Death

7/11/2014 1:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A critical scene for the upcoming "Fast & Furious 7" came to a screeching halt Thursday ... after studio suits pulled the plug because it was just too dangerous ... too risky.

Sources connected with the production tell TMZ ... the shoot was being prepped at the Willow Springs International Raceway near Palmdale -- 45 minutes from where Paul Walker tragically died.

Members of the crew tell TMZ ... producers brought in drivers who are "authentic street racers" for the scene, where a souped-up yellow Chevelle races another car and dramatically pops a wheelie, as bystanders stand right by the track and cheer.  A similar scene appeared in the first F&F.

The scene was being prepped for several days. Vin Diesel and other stars were there.   But just before filming, we're told the suits from Universal abruptly cancelled the shoot, saying it was too dangerous.

Someone who was at the track tells TMZ ... a person from the production told some staffers they couldn't get the proper insurance to shoot the race.

But the word circulating among the staff is that they are extremely cautious because of what happened to the star of their movie.  They believe a second crash -- even though Paul's was not film-related -- could jeopardize the entire franchise.

Porsche Fights Lawsuit ...

It's Not a Racecar!

6/4/2014 6:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Paul Walker Crash LawsuitThe crash that killed Paul Walker and Roger Rodas wasn't Porsche's fault ... according to Porsche, which says that's obvious because Rodas' widow can't even name the part she claims caused the accident.

TMZ broke the story ... Kristine Rodas filed a lawsuit against Porsche, claiming the Porsche Carerra GT Paul and Roger were driving had a faulty part in the suspension -- and also lacked a "crash cage" and "racing fuel cell" ... which she claimed are common in racecars.

Now Porsche has filed a motion to have the case dismissed ... claiming Kristine failed to state exactly which part of the suspension failed, how it, or what, caused the crash and if that part was original or a customized upgrade.

Porsche also claims Rodas' widow incorrectly called the Carrera GT a "racecar." As for the crash cage and fuel cell ... Porsche says "no ordinary customer would expect a passenger car" to have those things.

Interestingly, we previously reported a Porsche exec called the Carrera GT "as close to a racecar as we will ever get" -- and added it also has "all the disadvantages of a racecar."

Porsche wants the lawsuit dismissed in its entirety.

Walker died November 30 while the film was still in production.

Driver's Widow Sues Porsche

5/12/2014 4:41 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Porsche Paul Walker and Roger Rodas died in was basically death on wheels ... and faulty mechanics caused the tragic crash ... at least that's what Rodas' widow is claiming in a new lawsuit filed against Porsche.

Kristine Rodas filed the lawsuit today ... claiming the Porsche Carrera GT Paul and Roger were driving had a faulty part in the suspension which caused the car to careen out of control. In the papers, she claims Roger tried to keep the car on the road, but could not regain control before hitting a light pole.

In the docs, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court ... Kristine also blames Porsche for the car exploding on impact -- claiming the vehicle lacked a proper "crash cage" and a "racing fuel cell."

According to the docs, the "fuel cell" is common in race cars ... and prevents the fuel from igniting if there's an impact.

Kristine quotes Porsche ... "Carrera GT is as close to a racecar as we will ever get."

She also alleges Porsche ignored multiple fatal crashes that had occurred in the Carrera GT ... and never took steps to warn customers.

Here's the problem ... Kristine never acknowledges Roger was speeding in the car -- in fact, she claims he was only doing 55 mph. Back in March the CHP released its investigation results ... which put the car at somewhere between 80 and 93 MPH.

Kristine's hired Hollywood heavyweight attorney Mark Geragos to take on Porsche. She's suing for negligence, wrongful death and product liability.

Car Collection Up for Sale

... But Without His Name

5/1/2014 12:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0425-paul-walker-getty-01Paul Walker's famous car collection is now up for sale, but TMZ has learned the estate will NOT use Paul's name in connection with the sale.

According to our sources, Walker's exotic car shop, Always Evolving, is working with the estate to organize the sale, which has already begun -- but we're told the estate felt Paul wouldn't want his name, or the infamy of his fatal crash, to be used to jack up prices.

According to our sources, about 30 cars will go up for sale ... including BMWs, Audis, a lot of Mustangs, and a few Porsches.

We're told all vehicle sales will be private through high end brokers. Sorry, Walker fans ... these cars won't be popping up on AutoTrader.

Score a Fortune

4/21/2014 7:41 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

There's a set of twins that may already have their college educations paid for ... because they're banking a HUGE sum of money in the new "Fast & Furious 7."

Charlie and Miller Kimsey were born in 2010.  According to their contracts -- obtained by TMZ -- they play Jack, the son of Paul Walker's character in the flick.  They are paid handsomely -- $3,276.90 per week -- EACH.

They've already started filming.  It's unclear how many weeks the kids will shoot.

One thing's for sure ... they won't have to sell lemonade this summer.

Paul Walker's Brothers

Mimicking Paul's Voice

For 'Fast and Furious 7'

4/18/2014 12:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0417-paul-walker-brothers-getty-tmz-01Paul Walker's brothers don't just look like him, they sound like him too ... and TMZ has learned the "Fast and Furious 7" folks will use their voices to help fill out portions of Walker's movie dialogue.

Sources close to the the Walker family tell TMZ ... the production team for "FF7" will try something they have never done before ... merging archival audio of Walker's voice with his brothers' voices to fill in some gaps in the movie.

We're told it will take both brothers, Caleb and Cody, to get everything to match up. Our sources say the production team tested the voice of each brother and learned that certain words sound better coming from one brother, and different ones from the other ... so they will combine them to help make the dialogue work.

Our sources say the men have already started working on production.

Roger Rodas

$1 MIL Life Insurance Policy for Kids

4/17/2014 12:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Roger Rodas -- who died with Paul Walker in a fiery car crash -- left his children lots of financial security ... in the form of a $1 million life insurance policy.

Rodas' kids are 10 and 12.  Their mom, Kristine Rodas, has petitioned for a guardianship ... presumably so she can manage the money on behalf of her children.

There are tinges of sadness in the legal docs.  Kristine says she's the children's closest adult relative and their relationship is "loving."

The good news ... Roger provided well for them.

Ice Cube

I 'Was Robbed' Comment Was Not a Diss to Paul Walker

4/14/2014 6:15 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
Exclusive Details

Ice Cube is setting the record straight ... saying he was not taking a huge shot at Paul Walker when he griped about losing to him at the MTV Movie Awards -- and claims his words were misinterpreted.

Cube raised eyebrows when, according to USA Today, he said ... "We was robbed" in the Best Onscreen Duo category. He and Kevin Hart's "Ride Along" lost to Paul Walker and Vin Diesel's "Fast & Furious 6."

He added, "We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy."

Sounds like Cube was getting some heat ... because he's now saying, "I wasn't really mad we didn't win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker."

Ice Cube also tweeted, "Ice Cube is not a sore loser. I was born losing. This winning s*** is what I gotta get use to."

Sources close to the actor/rapper tell us he had a joking tone during the USA Today interview ... and was just busting on award shows since he doesn't take them seriously.

We feel you on that, Cube.

Paul Walker

Daughter to Live With Her Mom

IF She Goes to Rehab

3/30/2014 8:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

03-19-14-paul-meadow-tmzPaul Walker's mom will back off her demand to become guardian of Paul's 15-year-old daughter, even though that's what he said he wanted in  his will ... but ONLY if Meadow's mom goes to rehab.

Paul's mom Cheryl Walker went to court this week ... ready to do battle with Rebecca Soteros.  Rebecca has a serious drinking problem, with 2 DUIs under her belt.  Her drinking is why Meadow moved from Hawaii 3 years ago to live with her dad in L.A.

We've learned Rebecca and Cheryl came face-to-face and Rebecca grudgingly told Cheryl she would go to rehab immediately.  Cheryl then promised she would drop her bid for guardianship if Rebecca successfully completed the program and agreed to drug testing afterward.

We're told Rebecca said being with Meadow was the most important thing to her, and she knew there would be an ugly court fight if she didn't comply with Cheryl's demands.  So Rebecca started a detox program Friday, and will enter full-time rehab in a week.

In the meantime Meadow is staying with the Walker family.

Paul Walker's Mom

In Legal WAR With Meadow's Mom

3/27/2014 12:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

03-19-14-paul-meadow-tmzPaul Walker's baby mama has taken 15-year-old Meadow from the family home ... and Paul's mom is going to wage legal war in court today ... TMZ has learned.

Meadow had been been living with Cheryl Walker since August -- 3 months before Paul died.  After Paul's death, Meadow's mom, Rebecca, flew from Hawaii to live with Cheryl and Meadow and planned to stay until things stabilized.

But TMZ has learned everything fell apart last week when Cheryl filed to become Meadow's legal guardian.  Rebecca was pissed, and took Meadow to live at a family friend's house a mile away from Cheryl.

Rebecca has had a serious drinking problems over the last 6 years, with 2 DUIs under her belt.  We're told that's why Meadow reached out to her dad several years ago and asked to move to his home.

And, in Paul's will, he expressed the desire to make his mom Meadow's guardian in case he died.

So Cheryl will go to court today in an attempt to win temporary guardianship of Meadow, but family sources tell us Rebecca will fight her tooth and nail.  Our sources also say ... Cheryl is armed with evidence that Rebecca's drinking problem has not subsided and she's an unfit parent.

It should be interesting ... Rebecca has a legal advantage because she's the biological mother, but Cheryl is determined to protect her granddaughter.

Paul Walker

Family Blindsided

By Sheriff's Death Report

3/26/2014 9:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Paul Walker
's family did not get an advance courtesy call from law enforcement telling them they had determined the cause of Paul Walker's death ... and they're not happy.

Walker family sources tell TMZ, they feel totally betrayed by the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. ... the agency that conducted the probe.

The Sheriff's Dept. held a news conference Tuesday saying speed caused the crash -- not mechanical failure.  The family found out through media reports.

The family says they've been waiting for months, and it's been very difficult preparing for the moment when they learned why Paul died.  They say after such a long, emotional wait, they now feel shortchanged.

One family member learned of the results Tuesday on TV ... when the news ticker at the bottom of the screen unexpectedly rolled through.  The family member says that was simply cold.

We reached out to the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. for comment -- so far, no word back.
