Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre was born on October 10, 1969 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He played in college at Southern Mississippi for four years before getting drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft as the 33rd overall pick. After only one season, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers, where he spent the majority of his 20-year NFL career. With the Packers, he won three straight NFL Championships, two Super Bowl appearances including winning Super Bowl XXXI, three straight NFL Most Valuable Player awards from 1995-1997, and participated in 11 Pro Bowls. Favre spent the 2008 season on the New York Jets and his final two seasons, 2009 and 2010, playing for the Minnesota Vikings. He retired as the NFL’s all-time leading passer and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the 2016 class and the Packers Hall of Fame in 2015.
Favre married high school sweetheart Deanna in 1996. Before marrying him, Deanna made him go to rehab to treat addiction to painkillers. She also stood by his side as he battled alcoholism and unfaithfulness. Deanna overcame breast cancer in 2004. The couple runs the Favre 4 Hope foundation and has two daughters, Breleigh, a volleyball player at her dad’s alma mater, and Brittany Favre-Mallion, a law school graduate, mother of two sons—Parker and AJ—and wife to husband Alex.
