Melanie Griffith has gone from a mega homeowner to a renter, but don't feel sorry for her.

Melanie's living it up as a single chick in an awesome Hollywood Hills home after making a record amount of money off the digs she used to share with Antonio Banderas. They scored $16 mil when they sold it earlier this year ... a record for the pricey Hancock Park area of L.A.

Melanie’s new 4,725 sq. ft. Mediterranean villa has 4 bedrooms, 4 ½ baths, a movie theater, sports court, and a large pool with a cabana overlooking the city.

She’s ponying up $50k a month for rent and with a 2-year lease she'll be paying more than a mil.
