Philadelphia 76ers Apologize for Blocking Anthem Singer 'Wrong Decision was Made'
The Philadelphia 76ers have just issued an apology to Sevyn Streeter -- the singer they blocked from singing the National Anthem this week over her "We Matter" shirt -- and have invited her back to sing at another game.
"We are sorry that this happened," the team said.
"After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe that the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing."
"We apologize to her, and in an effort to move the conversation forward, we have reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at a game of her choice. We are waiting to hear back."
As TMZ Sports previously reported, several players were upset with the decision -- and voiced their concerns to management following the game.
