Lewis and Clarkson:

Who Will and WON'T Perform Tonight

5/23/2007 3:57 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Kelly Clarkson may be feuding with her label head Clive Davis, but she's got nothing but love for "American Idol."

TMZ has learned that Kelly -- and all winners from seasons past, except Fantasia -- will be back performing on the "American Idol" stage for tonight's finale.

Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks are headed to the Kodak Theater, but Fantasia Barrino won't be, since she is headlining Oprah Winfrey's production of "The Color Purple" on Broadway.

Sources tell TMZ Gladys Knight will perform "Midnight Train to Georgia" with the top six female finalists, while Smokey Robinson will join the top six male finalists for a rendition of "Ooh Baby Baby." Most recently booted finalist Melinda Doolittle will sing with brother and sister gospel duo BeBe and CeCe Winans, while the hairiffic Sanjaya duets with Aerosmith's Joe Perry to the Kinks' "You Really Got Me." It's sure to be an unbeweavable night!

Beat-boxing finalist Blake Lewis will show off his mad skillz against rapper Doug E. Fresh, and then duet with fellow finalist and probable winner, Jordin Sparks, to the Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There." Since producers were able to finally get clearance to use Beatles music, a medley of Fab Four hits will be performed as well.

Luckily, we're told no one is expected to be exhumed a la Elvis on tonight's finale!

UPDATE: A well-placed source tells TMZ that anti-establishment rockers Green Day sold out and will be on the "American Idiot" "Idol" finale too!

When Chris Sligh stated that another male contestant already proclaimed himself the winner of AI, it was easy to tell that Blake was the one who brashly uttered that information.

Why was Blake so sure? Did a little bird from the production department tell him?

Anyway, glad it's over. Poor Bette Midler had to compete with waving arms and hands for our attention. Poor camera work was at fault.

I don't believe Melinda had the moxy to take on all that is required. She is still looking at CeCe and BeBe Winans for justification of her singing. She need some self-esteem lessons and self-confidence lessons.

Though very talented, not ballsy enough for it. I think Jordin will rock as are 2007 AI. Blake will do very well as will Melinda, someone will make her a deal.

How can you say that green day sold out? I mean if they were just simply performing than yes, they did sell out. But I think its great that a band that has such influence on the younger generation performed to raise awarness in Darfur... they definently didnt sell out, they helped out!

I watched the finals last night. I really enjoyed all the entertainment with former Idols returning...I love Carrie and Taylor and all the surprise guest performances were a night of good family entertainment. It was enjoyable to have a few hours of lots of music with artist of all ages and stages...I am thrilled for Jordan and the way she handles all of this and hope Blake and the final 10 do well in their careers. jeb

for anyone getting some bad ideas of kelly Clarkson they should stop! Give the girl a break! Just because she didn't thank idol in her grammy speech?! Didn't you see how overwrought she was? I personally thought she was gon have a heart attack. And its her single having a bit of trouble...not her album!...her last album sold about 11 million worlwide!...Its just her new image that people have to get you just like they got used to Since U Been Gone!..Breakaway didn't sell well in the beginning but then started getting sales surges because in the end it was great music!
