Lindsay's New Lawyer:

She's Going to Jail

7/16/2010 8:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan has officially hired Bob Shapiro to represent her in her ongoing DUI probation case ... but only on condition that she goes to jail.

TMZ broke the story earlier this week that Shapiro was stepping in after Shawn Chapman Holley quit.  Shapiro, who repped O.J. Simpson, tells TMZ, "I have agreed to represent Ms. Lohan on the condition that she complies with all the terms of her probation, including a requirement of jail time that was imposed by Judge Marsha Revel."

Shapiro added, "Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with."  The lawyer's son died of a drug overdose in 2005.

His son supposedly got heavily into drugs because of Shapiro defending OJ, poor kid got teased & harassed at school constantly. Sad story, Shapiro may have cause his son's death in pursuit of bigger fame & money.

"Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with." Is Lilo conceding that she is a drug addict? And what does Dina have to say about Mr. Shapiro's statement?

Finally she is listning to someone. Has it sunk in yet Lilo? Its all for your own good. You are still young and you can overcome this and get on with your life/career in a positive way.

But ... Lindsay and family continue to insist she doesn't do drugs & she's just (repeatedly) been set up by her ex-father, the judge, haters, etc. So if she doesn't truly suffer from a disease her lawyer is all too familiar with, is this announcement just another blatant ploy for sympathy / a reduced sentence from the Court?

If so, and her criteria for hiring a new lawyer included "absolute loyalty and zero tolerance for dishonesty" can someone explain Shapiro's statement to me? Absolute loyalty would require him to maintain Lindsay's contention that she doesn't do drugs, and his statement about her "disease" would qualify as dishonesty - so shouldn't she be firing him immediately?

If not, and she has authorized him to publicly acknowledge that she is in fact a drug addict, isn't she admitting to yet another lie and that she's played the public & the court system like fools for how long now?

Either way, Lindsay loses. Finally. Thank God.

who dat

This tells you exactly how effn stupid lindsay is. Why would you need a lawyer unless you are planning an appeal. You show up to court and they take you into custody. Then do you easy 23 day sentence in ad seg. Read books write in a journal. Then upon release sell the story for 700K.

She will make more per day in jail than any other project she has worked on in the past 3 years.

Yeah, yeah.....she will go to jail. The big long will she stay in jail? I bet is isn't 90 day? More like (maybe) 9 hours.

Good for Shapiro and good for Lindsay. Hopefully, she will get back on track.

Her case is not a disease, it's the overblown, overpreened and over indulged girl that has gotten here way for so long that she expects it now of real adults..

So, why does she need him then? This looks like his strategy for backing out of the case.

In the long run, it's great news. She's gonna make some money with the jail interview. Can't wait to the booze and blow redux

See you at SkyBar L

Thank God for men like Bob Shapiro. He is exactly right. Its the first time in this whole mess that someone other than the judge is acting in Lilo's best interests. Her father and mother failed her BIG TIME!

She's going to jail because he's convinced her there is no other way to get out of it.

Come Tuesday, he will then try to get her off to jail for as little time as possible.

Most likely she will check in during the weekend or end of the day when the jail is most crowded and "they have no room for her".

Hopefully, the judge will issue a non-release order or order her back into custody if they try to kick her out early.

If everyone does care, then they should enforce the whole 90 days stay. The longer she stays clean the better chance she has to keep clean.

Let's see how long that works for her
