Another Unscripted Car Crash on 'Transformers 3' Set

10/11/2010 4:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Transformers 3 - Unscripted Car Crash There was more trouble on the Washington D.C. set of "Transformers 3" today -- when a cop car drove through the movie's perimeter and collided with one of the movie's main stars ... bright yellow Autobot Bumblebee!

A nearby shop owner tells TMZ there was a lot of police activity in the area right at the time of the accident due to a bomb scare. It is unclear if the cop car involved in the accident was part of that investigation.

UPDATE: D.C. police tell TMZ the cop car involved was part of the Explosives Ordinances Division. We're told the cop driving was taken to a nearby hospital.

Sheesh, aren't cops suppose to know where a movie scene is taking place? I mean why hurt Bumblebee? But thank god Optimus Prime wasn't hurt. He's the main bot and everyone loves him

Ok clearly people are clueless.. A "closed" set means nothing. All the permit allows them to do is close traffic for normal people IE me and you.

A closed set does not stop any Cop or Fire or EMS from driving into it. The law is 100% on the cops side.

Now whoever was working the road block should have had contact with the film crew. Someone stated the police was handling it and it could have been but 90% of the time its jut a rent a cop.

The cop isn't going to get any money from this other than a few days missed pay and the film crews insurance will have to cover that cop car because they are 100000000000% at fault. I pay claims like this all the time and seen this happen many times before.

So to call the cop a retard or whatever else just shows what little brains you have to think because a film crew is at a location that they have some power to kick he cops out of the area.

Hell I seen people living in a area where there is filming and they back out of their driveway and get hit by some movie car speeding and its comes out on the movie's insurance. closed means nothing except to looky loo's

The news said this cop was on a different frequency than the cops on set. You can see him swerve away from Optimus as well. I'm sure, and in such a small town, that all of DC knew a big movie was being filmed there but he was enroute to an emergency and probably thought he could make it through safely. Mind you, he even went through a red light right where the accident happened. This could have happened off set on another street. Sometimes emergency vehicle get into accidents. Luckily no one was hurt.
