Idol's 'Haunted' Mansion -- $12 Million Price Tag

4/9/2011 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Must be tough to rent out a giant mansion after several frightened "American Idol" contestants accuse the place of being haunted -- because TMZ has learned, the place is now up for sale ... for $12 million.

The private gated 15,000 square foot home sits on a 2-acre compound -- and features a giant pool, one especially large room with a 28-foot ceiling ... basically marble everything ... and a "motor court" with enough room to park 100 CARS.

In other words, it's the perfect home for scary ghosts.

This house has been on the market for a while actually. It was also used to film Chad Ochocinco's show. Located at 12300 Mulholland Drive. Doubt they'll ever get asking price.

In Florida/NOT Flo-ri-da!

House looks like an old Spanish-Style house/"mansion" on the outside. Could use a spruce up & I guess those who are familiar say it needs a roof to prevent a creative issue of a home/Act of God made swimming pool(aka-'Cement Pond'). The interior contradicts what the contestants are asked to bring:"Make it current, hip, sense of self style and presence. Keep it fresh & for real". HINT! Do contestants hear the voice of Sanjaya (sorry if misSPELLED)!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is not a house. It's a party pad for huge parties - plain and simple. As one person said: It lacks coziness and warmth. With a place like that, a person wouldn't believe he's/she's doing the house justice without having a party there every weekend - and who has the time, or money, for that? Plus, $12m, way overpriced. Plus, if it does have demonic spirits, that's a deal breaker, even if they can be gotten rid of.

I recall they moved the idol people to a hotel because the house had way to many maintenance issues, I guess that would seem haunting in a strange large house.

They really missed their chance to unload it, if it was just a few years ago they could have sold to someone making 9 bucks an hour
