Mariska Hargitay Sues Agency -- Remember, I Fired You

4/27/2011 2:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Mariska Hargitay has declared a legal war on one of the biggest agencies in Hollywood -- claiming William Morris Endeavor is trying to stake claim to her "Law & Order: SVU" money ...despite the fact she kicked them to the curb.

According to a lawsuit filed today in New York, Hargitay claims in 2009 WME tried, but failed, to lock down a deal with NBC to extend her contract for seasons 11 and 12 of "SVU."

Hargitay claims she fired WME and went to a rival agency -- which was able to negotiate a much better deal than what WME could get for her.

Now, the actress claims WME wants their full 10% commission on all of her earnings for seasons 11 and 12 -- even though she already paid the cut to her new agency ... who she feels rightly deserves the cash.

Hargitay wants a judge to block WME from trying to collect.

this whole thing is probably actually some obligatory agents who are included in some arbitrary clause in every actors/actresses especially, contract, and probably has zero to do with mariska hargitay. the way these obligatory signature contracts work, someone can thus 'file a lawsuit' in 'your name' demanding (reqquesting) the percentage fee of the actresses income, zero of that going to the actress herself. money clawing lawyers will almost always include themselves into financially lucrative contracts in some wording, enabling themselves to stick their lazy, selfish fingers into someone who worked for their money's- pot.

I think this whole situation is a little more complicated than what this article leads readers to believe. Mariska might have had contractual obligations which were still binding in the event that she gives WME the boot.

Regardless, I really like Mariska and I hope she wins if WME has no justification in the matter.

Whose the Slimeball Agent from WMA publish the name so other talent can fire him/her as well. Agents are s***. You all know they don't work right. They are considered the maggots of the industry.

This is interesting! I wonder how her agent's legal obligation to the WMA would have changed after the merger in April 2009? Hopefully, it will have no bearing on her formal notice terminating their representation as WME and she will be able to pursue her claims in the state of New York which would be much more favorable to her. I wish her the best of luck. It would be a travesty, if Ms. Hargitay was forced to pay WME for services they didn't perform.

1) Mariska Hargitay ROCKS. She is beautiful, talented and sincere.

2) What does it say about the vaunted WME Agency that they were unable to close this deal, but another agency could? Clearly, WME didn't try as hard as they could. Are they slacking?

3) How cruel to come after Ms. Hargitay right at this moment, when she has just adopted a baby? Shame on WME for attacking this working mother.

4) She absolutely has the right to fire an under-performing agency and replace them with a more aggressive one.

Go, Mariska. Good luck.
