Rick Ross Accused in Gruesome Doggy Death

6/29/2011 5:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The blood of an adorable 3-year-old Yorkie named Banks is on Rick Ross' hands ... according to a lawsuit filed against the rapper.

Banks' owner is suing Ross -- claiming 3 pit bulls escaped from Rick's mansion in Atlanta back in April ... entered her property and ferociously attacked her tiny pet Yorkshire Terrier.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the yorkie suffered "3 large bite wounds on his back " along with a "very large bite wound" around his neck.

Cops were called to the scene -- and officials managed to free Banks ... but his wounds were so extreme, that the owner had no choice but to euthanize her beloved companion.

Investigators eventually cited Ross for the incident -- but the owner wasn't satisfied so she filed suit, demanding Ross fork over $15,000 in damages and court costs.

We're told the owner is especially upset because Ross has NOT apologized for the incident.

Calls and emails to Rick's camp have not been returned.

Can you please remove the term ferocious from you article that attaches a fearful and negative stigma to the pit bull breed. The fault is with the owner. The fact that there was a dog attack has nothing to do with the breed, but that there were a group of dogs loose together, they formed a pack mentality, anything small, anything running, can signal a pack of dogs to be curious and or aggressive which can lead to an attack. Most dog attacks are from a pack of dogs loose from a property at fault of the owner. Statistics and studies prove that it is not the breed, but the behaviors of dogs when in a pack loose outside of their known territory. Thanks TMZ, for spreading fear and ignorance with a two words vicious and pit bull. These types of stereotypes cause pit bulls to be the first euthanized and the most euthanized breed. Can you please post about Patrick the Pit Bull and that dogs abusive owner. You posted about a horrible hit and run with no one famous, and got a response, try making some more posts that don't have such a quick and ignorant banter in regards to hot topic posts like this. Please.
Pit bulls received one of the highest behavior ratings along with the golden retriever. This is ridiculous, every news media outlet uses pit bull and voracious when talking about dog attacks, when the word vicious is severely damaging to the breeds future, and when a lot of the time, the dog or dogs in the attack, were not pit bulls!

Koko, Why should TMZ remove ferocious from the article. I agree that it was the owners fault and responsibility, however the dogs are still ferocious and need to be labeled as such. If not put down, they need to be treated as damaged goods.

Disgusting. I realize Pitts can be good pets but only in the hands of responsible owners. We should change our laws to impose serious consequences on those who are irresponsible pet owners. I am sad for the yorkie and the yorkies owner but also for the Pitts - with proper rearing they would not have behaved this way.

I'm surprised that authorities have not required the offending pit bull to be put down. They should definitely take away all animals from him and prohibit him from ever owning an animal again. Hundreds of hours of hard community service is probably also a good idea, given that he has not apologized. So far, this means nothing to him, the harm and suffering caused to others.

Some people are so naiive. Like any other dog, pitbulls need training. Get proper training and a pitbull is actually one of the most well-behaved, eager to please dog breeds out there. They get a bad rep because they ARE so eager to please, that if the owner trains them (or encourages them) to fight, they will - because they think that's what the owner wants. This article has nothing to do with race or social status/class, Rick Ross probably has 3 dogs as companions, but is so busy, lacks the time to give the dogs the attention they need, and therefore they will act aggressively. One dog may have been the guilty party, but if you know anything about dogs there is something called "pack mentality" Those dogs follow each other - they are family to each other. Its terrible that the little dog had to go through that trauma, and that Rick Ross hasn't apologized, but people really need to get educated on dogs and especially pitbulls.

@ Ray,

My apologies. I was not aware that when I read the majority of racist or stereotypical comments on TMZ referring to all Black people as ghetto that they may be talking about people of Polish descent instead. Thanks for clearing that up.

Ray 48 minutes ago

Attention Black people: You do not own the word Ghetto, or any other word for that matter. I am sure Polish people would take offense you you believing you own the word ghetto when they died in ghettos at the hands of Nazi's.

Technically it's not his fault his dogs killed Banks. As it was stated previously by others pitbulls are naturally aggressive, but suing him for $15,000 just because he has the money isn't going to bring the dog back. I know people love their animals but extortion is extortion.

When are people going to understand that pit bulls are AGGRESSIVE killer animals. They shouldn't even be allowed in urban areas with high density populations. I don't care if it's a good owner or bad owner - pit bulls have a more aggressive nature than most other breeds, and this coupled with the fact that they are pure muscle with immense strength results in that they are too dangerous for urban society, and especially around small children or animals. Pit bull advocates are in denial.

Why do gangsters need pitbulls? Don't those thugs have guns? They're too busy doing coke to even care for themselves, much less a pet.

One sweet pet had to be put down, and three mistreated animals will have to follow suit. I say we euthanize this crackhead, and call it a day.

I do believe the woman has the right to sue and she should because his dogs should have been secured properly from the public. He has money, so I don't understand why they would not be in a secured area. I also believe many people have dogs such as these and do not have them properly trained and think they can just have them like any other dog, which is why you hear stories such as this. And what's even sadder is that children are killed by these kind of dogs as well.

On another note, the comments that I'm seeing show whites looking to find a reason to bash a black man because secretly or publicly, they don't like blacks for whatever reasons. The safest place for whites to spew their hate is on the internet where their face isn't shown and no-one can touch them.
